>don't bother rebuilding the pump and get this instead:

>only a train spotter will notice the timing cover. it's more important that it's in good condition where the water flows thru it than the cast timing tab. if it's good, just roll with it.

>the oil pump drive was used across all the small blocks. some have a pin at the gear end, some do not-- i've taken apart several 340's and it's a roll of the dice as to whether they have them or not. it's more important that it's in good condition. if not, no worries they sell them new.

Ha yeah one of the guys has a 69 cover going that way
Not that's it's a lot of money and I have plenty of time
Didn't pay much for that one so will sell it when I'm done so if any one needs it ......

not in my motors. 340's and Hemi's. **** I don't think hypertectics were invented then.
Might want to dig out a factory service manual.... They were invented & they were used in street hemi's... Surprised me when I read it in the FSM especially considering how much piston to wall clearance they ran...
And 340 pistons were definitely cast

No FACTORY installed forged pistons in 340's, ever. You may have had a 340 with forged pistons, but somebody besides Mound Road engine assembly plant put them in there.
**** I worked on Mound and Caniff. All I can say is I had a number (lots) of 340;s 68-71) even new and they all had forged pistons. Let me tell you there was a lot of 340's around Detroit and Hamtramck and I took a lot of them apart. Maybe it was just a Detroit thing.

forged will knock when cold ,on the engines i've seen them in
since i'm building a stock car don't think i need them
so these are the mounts ,one is welded ,not sure if they are the right ones to start with if so will get it fixed right
and my oil pump drive
so not engine related but bought a nice gts hood with trim and inserts
guy has a k-frame and 8 3/4 getting on sunday .....i'll see what else he has

mounts are 318 pieces with the mods to work with 340/360, don't sweat it, they're probably fine enough to roll. or buy some conversion/swap mounts, or they show up pretty frequently here.

don't sweat the oil pump drive. you can buy them new in both the std & HD flavors if need be. yours is the HD version. if the hex is clean where it engages the oil pump and the teeth/shaft don't exhibit excessive wear then i'd clean it up and and roll with it.

so its the mounts and brackets or just the brackets that are different
