That timing cover and tab is close enough, 64-68. You can also get your damper rebuilt or BHJ will build you a new one but you have to call them.So not the right one ?
Timing cover and water pump are compatible for pre 70. That tc is technically for 67 and parts of 68 small block, but was never used on 340.
All oil pump drives are the same. 273, 318, 340, 360. There is a heavy duty one available if needed.dose the oil pump drive look right
So all 68 340's used the 69 cast in timing marks on the timing cover?
I have not built a 68 340, only 69-72 so it was a question. As we know some 68 cars were built in 1967.Have you ever seen that style(originally) on a 340? Myself I don't care as the OP wants period correct for 69. That ain't it.

nope. forged. That is not true. They were cast pistons.
not in my motors. 340's and Hemi's. **** I don't think hypertectics were invented then.Wrong... Positive deck height but cast... Hell, the Hemi pistons were Hyperutectic
Use forged. What's it going to cost extra overall? 1969 340's had forged pistons also. I was racing 340's in 69. Like the song says, the best days of my life, summer of 69. Yesterday to me.both set of pistons are cast ...so staying with cast ...and i guess no need to source a flywheel before i send the crank out for balancing
these are the rods both free floating

Might want to dig out a factory service manual.... They were invented & they were used in street hemi's... Surprised me when I read it in the FSM especially considering how much piston to wall clearance they ran...not in my motors. 340's and Hemi's. **** I don't think hypertectics were invented then.
**** I worked on Mound and Caniff. All I can say is I had a number (lots) of 340;s 68-71) even new and they all had forged pistons. Let me tell you there was a lot of 340's around Detroit and Hamtramck and I took a lot of them apart. Maybe it was just a Detroit thing. No FACTORY installed forged pistons in 340's, ever. You may have had a 340 with forged pistons, but somebody besides Mound Road engine assembly plant put them in there.
forged will knock when cold ,on the engines i've seen them inNo FACTORY installed forged pistons in 340's, ever. You may have had a 340 with forged pistons, but somebody besides Mound Road engine assembly plant put them in there.

since i'm building a stock car don't think i need them
so these are the mounts ,one is welded ,not sure if they are the right ones to start with if so will get it fixed right
and my oil pump drive
so not engine related but bought a nice gts hood with trim and inserts
guy has a k-frame and 8 3/4 getting on sunday .....i'll see what else he has
You must still have a gall bladder. Mine was an inferior cast gall bladder instead of a factory forged gall bladder. I am now gall bladder delete! When you have gall bladder delete, "Thou shalt no longer trust a fart."well, guess we know the secret to those 160mph darts now.
*farts loudly*

so its the mounts and brackets or just the brackets that are differentmounts are 318 pieces with the mods to work with 340/360, don't sweat it, they're probably fine enough to roll. or buy some conversion/swap mounts, or they show up pretty frequently here.
don't sweat the oil pump drive. you can buy them new in both the std & HD flavors if need be. yours is the HD version. if the hex is clean where it engages the oil pump and the teeth/shaft don't exhibit excessive wear then i'd clean it up and and roll with it.
just the bracketas hombreso its the mounts and brackets or just the brackets that are different
