Spent the day in the shop—got the passenger side frame rail about 80% finished and knocked out the ladder bar pocket. Just need to pick up some steel tomorrow to button up the rest. A surprise afternoon storm rolled in and the C10 got caught outside, but thankfully no hail. Later, I took some measurements on the new spring box and, sure enough, it’s got 1.5 inches of relocation built in—perfect for running the altered wheelbase setup.

That's looking really good.

How in the world are you going to do that.
I can't wait to see this.
Here’s how it’s going to be done:

I’ve got a set of relocation boxes with two sets of mounting holes. I’ll use the rearward holes for alignment with the stock location, but the forward holes will be the actual new mounting points. The rear slider mounts will also move forward by the same 1.5 inches.

Up front, the K-member mounts will be shifted forward as well. A custom set of billet spacers will be made and welded to the Hemi Denny brackets. For the upper mounts, I’ll be using the Safe-T-Cap upper control arm mount kit and re-mounting my upper coilover brackets into those in the same manner.

The only other modification will be a longer mid-shaft for the steering. That should cover all the mechanical changes.

As for the bodywork, the fiberglass fenders will need a lot of work—but they needed it anyway—and Hot Rod Heaven is already stretching the quarters, so now’s the perfect time to handle it all.

Great, that's awesome

With the heavy rain preventing progress on the car (don't want to kick the truck out) I decided to mock up the A100 style brackets on the A&A fiberglass buckets and it didn't disappoint

Got a great streak going until I ran out of welding wire and fresh metal stock. The passenger rear is about 98% finished. I’ve shifted to the front, cut out the old subframe connector mount, and plan to fab a new boxing plate that ties into the subframe connector. The rear of the connector will pass through the new stamped frame rail and be pre-welded to the leaf spring box for maximum structural integrity. I’ll also rosette weld the connector to the frame where it passes inside. Still a lot left to do, but it’s rewarding to see that 2 ¾ inches of inboard movement come together.

What is the back of the new frame rail welded to? Previously there was nothing there, no? Looks like you extended a plate inward to accommodate the new end point?

So the rear section of the new frame rail is welded to 6 inches of the old rail parallel to each other with a seam on the top, rosette an front and back welds on the inside, the angled portion comes and meets the end of the new rail at a notched portion so that way it's not just a smooth cut off the top is also plated an Rosette welded together

Thanks. Did you consider boxing the whole section? Lot of forces acting on that area.

Also - are you planning on any provisions for mounting/protecting plumbing and the rear battery cable (if you're routing that outside the pass. compartment)? When I stripped the undercoating off my Duster I wish I would have remembered to do that stuff beforehand and welded clips or threaded bungs before paint.

Any updates on the car sure do miss what you've been doing to it. Hope all is well with you and your family.

It's been a minute between a bunch of work travel, my health and getting the truck rear rebuilt for a reliability run. But the crank is done and being delivered tomorrow and a bunch of stuff from my Holley sponsorship has been arriving. I hope next week top. get the headers blasted to send the last package east for the machine shop. A couple off topic photos to show some highlights from the last weeks. Plus the next big event.

Its been forever. Any updates on the Demon?
Yeah, I've been chipping away at it. It was getting ready for Bonneville was a big push for me so now that's all done and just getting back after the car so I decided to cut out all the work from the rear perch back and go ahead and install new rails for a little bit stronger design after looking at a couple other cars granted it was also prompted by the NHRA tech official not being thrilled with the design but a setback yes but could save my life if there was ever an issue so I'm good with that. The rail should be here later this week. I've picked up some parts over the past few weeks. They've just been holding onto the engine is in full swing at the machine shop and should be done in time for PRI from what I was told but with the temperature swing, I will be able to start working on the car again a lot more not in the heat, but I will be having surgery the beginning of October and that'll put me out for six weeks the C10is getting sent out to the grand national truck show in California plus I have to go to a couple work events so realistically the car will be getting done but not as much as I'd like anytime before the holidays one of the other issues I've been running into is with the new phone. I can't share my pictures as it says the file is too big. I have to figure out how to do that. My Instagram is probably the best way to see up-to-date photos.

Try doing a screenshot of the picture you want to upload, then just post the screenshot...it's usually a compressed pic, but still good enough quality. Glad to hear you've still got things in the works!

You should be able to change the desired file size for pictures in your phone settings. Been there done that.

So work has been steady but slow with a lot of travel in the past weeks for work and the project. I ended up doing 21 states in 30 days been as far west as Nevada and all over the east coast. Ended up flying home to Mass on a to get the primary engine from the machinist as they never started on it plus get the other two blocks from my folks with my spare heads crank exedra. The plan is to once the first motor is done and tested, build a twin back up and a short block too that way I'll have three motors to mitigate down time if there is an issue or between refreshes. So I ended up sending motor 1 to madcap racing to be built, they are going full tilt and hopefully we will have it done for PRI this year. As far as the travel went it awarded me the opportunity to go cross country with my dad again this time getting to hit the US nationals and see more of the country. Once back in the mountains Pops and I made time to tack up the new back halve and come up with a winter plan for after my surgery recovery ( finally getting that over with first week of October). I also took the time to catalog all the parts for the motor prior to dropping it off at mad cap and flying out again to LS fest for work. Once that bit of travel was done I have been back home working on the slider mounts in Cad and work on the Pro Stock organization idea still. In the travels I was able to pick up a set of 15x 3.5 slots from my buddy Tim and add them to the stable for the optional wheels and tire combos.
