I've been looking for a short bed shop truck for a while now (seems like forever) and this one has hung around on FB Marketplace for a while. It appears to be a solid project and the price ($2500) and location are agreeable. The floors have been patched (not the nicest) but the rest of the truck is rust free. ;) I have a good running 318 out of my Duster and could find a 727 pretty easily.

I've always had a soft spot for the quad headlights after owning one in the 80's and this looks like an easy way to get back into tin grilles. I'm gonna go try and put eyes on it later today. Anything that you guys notice that seems out of whack or that I should be looking for? Thanks in advance!

Hey BrianT,

Go get it before someone beats you to it!

That is a great platform , Club Cab, Short Box, 2WD. Very hard to find, especially in Canada.

I looked for one for years before finally buying a 2001 Ram Short Box, 2WD, Sport with SLT PKG. (also rare).

If it came with the black and chrome side trim moldings, they may be a bear to locate.

For what its worth, Ramcharger parts, including interior readily interchange.

Hope you get it.

Cheers!

I'd do it. You already have the engine, you've always wanted one and you want a project for the winter. Just think how happy you will be wrenching on a new project!

Buy it! If you decide it's not what you want/need, hell there's apparently a few here who would buy from you. :) :usflag:

I ordered a 79 SE club cab long box in 1978 before the new the literature was out. When it came I was so disappointed with the quad headlights and no indents on hood. Didn’t take long to liking it

On the right plat form I think it could fetch 4500 to 5000 easy, do not prime it, just clean up .. yep, people out there counting me would love to have it delivered to me if I had the chance and cash of course

Your snow plow truck?? Forgot you had that !

I've seen the mint AC dash and the decently good quad headlight grill in that truck bring crazy (to me, anyway) money before. I see more in parts there than they're probably asking for the whole truck.

DON"T DO IT (Don't let this one pass you by) :poke: :poke:
Yep, if he is much closer then me 7 to 8 hours, and just a 3 to 4 hour trip it would be a dandy 2.500 dollar investment, heck pick it up for 2.250 even would pay for fuel and time

I been watching that one on marketplace myself .... lol Better get it before I change my mind!

Just so you know-it will more than likely have the short tailhousing, bolt on yoke 727 with the carrier bearing driveshaft. At least my 75 does.

That's easy, my dad had one new. Sucked getting in and out of the back as much as sitting back there and I was a skinny 13 yo kid. It also sucks for storage for the same reasons, not much space and ingress, egress is a pia. Buy a long box with a regular cab, you won't regret it.

I'm pretty sure my first truck, a 1980 Club Cab short bed, had a short 727 and 2-piece driveshaft. I still have some new Halogen headlights and retaining rings from it. I loved the storage behind the seats. I replaced it with a 1986 std. cab, long bed and hated it. Bruised my elbow on the back glass early on whenever I turned around to back up. I was happy again with a 1992 D-350 diesel dually Club Cab and currently have a 2004 3500 diesel dually 4-door for easy access to the back. My every-day 1995 and current 2005 Dakotas are extended cabs too. Unfortunately, the rear '05 doors quit working and I haven't gotten around to fixing them.
