What unobtainium parts are needs? starter list

-

What are the chances you could make key blanks? I haven't been able to find any blanks for my '65, and I only have one trunk key. Seems like some newer cars came with a plastic key for service or something.
I have those trunk blanks. If you want a NOS that has "Chrysler" on them, $15 ea. I also have hardware store blanks that go for $5 ea.
No one is repoping them that I am aware of.
I also have the square ignition keys as well as the pentastar keys that have the tab on top of them.

@Chained_360 started the initial design for those clips, I've been trying to get them to restart it or sell me the file so that I can finish it up. They were going to do something a month or so ago, but it's been crickets ever since. So the initial design was started, it just needs a little bit of tweaking to finish it up.
I definitely dropped the ball big time on this one, lots of promises and excitement but ultimately nothing delivered (yet). I would like to apologize to everyone I said I would help and haven't yet, not a cool move at all. ec_co reached out to me about this project to help finish it up and I am working on unearthing the files for it so I can hand it off to him. Life has been a lot busier than expected the past couple years for me but is starting to calm down a touch, I really would like to see these parts available to the community so y'all can get them on your cars!

Barracuda rear decklid trim.
You'd need a pretty big 3d printer though...
or you print a multi piece 3d printed mold and make them in Carbon fiber or fiber glass. Not incredibly hard. Drawing the molds would take the longest time.

I had also contacted Chained_360 over a year ago and asked if he would consider sharing the source file if he wasn’t making any more clips. Then I could get them printed locally. But, no response.

So the next issue is what is the best material to use, should I find a local 3D source?

What do folks need? What isn't available that can be reverse engineered and printed?

Keep in mind, these are for plastic parts, not metal as that tech is still quite expensive and not available for most folks. The current level of hobbyist printers is more than adequate to print high quality, high temperature, high strength products.

The engineering side can require lots of iterations and tweaking - if an Eng/Printer has the vehicle, it's an easier process; if not, member collaboration is more important to find members (hopefully close because shipping back/forth for test fits and tweaking can get costly) willing to help in the process. This generally also requires having a physical part in hand for precise measurements.

So - what holes are missing in the parts department?
How about 1969 headlight bezels

NOS. In the box.

Could tail light lenses be printed? I know nothing about 3D printers. I can’t find 64’ Dart wagon tail lights anywhere. Mine are complete but look very brittle and it’s only a matter of time until someone touches them.

I saw someone on Facebook trying to print these taillight lenses. I'll see if I can find them.

Headlight bezels for the '63-'64 Dodge Dart. Plastic would be better than nothing which is what I have now. The guy I bought the car from had cobbled together something truly hideous which I removed right away. Repops are currently unavailable.

I'd be interested, if anyone has a set I can borrow. They don't have to be in good shape. Even the questionable item in the photo would let me copy some key dimensions.

Unfortunately the diameter doesn't match up with the fender. It just a real hack. Hopefully someone will have a real one they could let you copy.

65 barracuda formula S tach housing trim.

The originals housings and tachs sell for close to $1,000 on eBay. I’d love just the trim part of it and I’d mount my own tach behind it.

The design looks simple enough, the chrome is likely the biggest issue. Do you have one to take measurements from?
I do not. I’ve been trying to buy one for years and just can’t justify the $$$ for one. I’m sure there is someone who has one they would measure.

I've always thought these fuse boxes (pegged as 63-69 Valiant, Barracuda, Dart under dash fuse boxes) would be good candidates for 3d printing, but haven't seen anyone do it yet. I don't know what volume/price/margin would justify the effort.

I'll try to get that drawn up soon and see what costs look like.

Maybe not a reproduction piece...what about someone building a N96 unhood pieces for a dual scoop A-body hood? Broken down they aren't huge. Just thinking outside box. how about two-piece radiator shrouds?

What about the plastic under dash map light lens that has disintegrated for pretty much everyone who owns a ‘65 Barracuda like mine. I’m sure other early A cars had this as well.
