I think the trick usually lies in what it's worth to the parent company. If you are just advertising with the logo, I don't see too much harm in it. There are plenty of parody places out there that might use similar graphics. I think it only really starts hitting the corporate radars if you are selling merchandise with the logo. Even then, there are plenty of dollar store t-shirts that use parody logos that haven't been shut down. I guess the trick is just don't get big enough to matter to them, lol.

Remember Mopars at the Strip ? Chrysler sued the promoter for using the name Mopar.
Get this, his family owned 3 Chrysler dealerships !!!

I'm guessing the answer is "All of it." Better to just make a logo that evokes a particular era without being an obvious copy of anything.

Although finding an abandoned trademark (going through reprints of 1950s copies of Hot Rod can be a good inspiration) is also fair game. The USPTO website can confirm if a mark is abandoned.

Ever hear of a Plymouth tractor? 1934? They were sued and then had to drop the Plymouth name

First thing I think of when I realize a Mopar part doesn't exist - Um, crap!

Unobtainium Mopar Classic Restoration Auto Parts

Seriously though, imo, kiss principle and make it about your name.
Parts is in the Mopar name anyway.

I kinda like the ink stamp logo look, like an actual stamp to ink to box.

You don't want to use "Mopar" in the business name without written permission, whatever you do.

Right? "Hey! Let's pick the most recognizable trademark related to anything from the historical Chrysler Corporation, that should fly under the radar, right?"

That would be most wise, glad You're moving forward, best of luck with Your enterprise
Thanks, I just wish I knew **** about setting up or running a business. And I wish I was a paper pushing kind of guy.

My wife is retiring soon and I'm hoping she will be the business manager!:)

I believe Chrysler or their lawyers, had someone removed by LE at the Mopar Nats one year. Escorted them out, and loaded up all the violating merch.
I was there, and saw the big scene and perp-walk. Didn't find out for a few hours, some decent info.
