    Generator to alternator

Hey everyone, I realize A bodies didn't really have this problem, but figure someone must have done the swap at some point so I'll post my question here. I've got a '62 Chrysler, 361 with points and a generator. I'm looking to do an electronic ignition conversion so I obviously need to swap...

Rally dash harness vs standard dash

Hey all, how do you tell the difference between a wiring harness from a rally dash vs one from a standard dash? I'm putting my '67 Barracuda back together and I can't tell which harness came out of it. I've got a bunch of harnesses here from number of different A bodies but I'm not sure which to...

Possible to connect new stereo with a clock?

Take a test light and poke around in there until you find something. I believe the lighter feed should be hot all the time.

    Key & light buzzer

My '70 Dart has a key-in buzzer but I unplugged it because it was annoying as hell. The buzzer is still behind the dash near the glove box.

    '68 steering column .. what's this do?

Hey all, I pulled the column from this '68 Valiant I bought for parts and noticed it had an extra electrical harness snagging it up. I thought maybe it was a '68 only thing, but the floor shift column I pulled from my '68 Cuda doesn't have it. So what is it?

Dead on side of the road ! ! ! Help !

I just had exactly this happen last weekend in my Dart. Orange box was bad, swapped it out with another I had in the trunk, all better. Is yours properly grounded?

Help Starter key won't start engine

From my experience that usually means the starter relay is bad.

    74 dart sport won't charge

Check your connections through the bulkhead connector, they're pretty bad. Check your connection right at the voltage regulator, often the plug doesn't make a good connection. Also make sure your voltage regulator is grounded. Run a ground wire back to the engine or battery negative, don't...

Issue with turn signals in 70 Dart

Whoops, my mistake, flasher. As for all being bad, I'm not sure what happened. The first ones I pulled from my '67 Cuda. They worked fine when I drove the car, but I've since torn it down for bodywork and thought I'd steal them out of it. Next was out of my '65 W300, same scenario. This...

Issue with turn signals in 70 Dart

Thanks for the help on this guys. I tried swapping bulbs with no luck, so I finally pulled apart the bulkhead connectors and sprayed contact cleaner in there. I then pulled the relays and gathered up all my known wording relays and tried them all. No luck with any. I went into the back and found...

Issue with turn signals in 70 Dart

Alright, after doing numerous searches here I still cannot find a thread with my similar issue. My turn signals quit working on there own last year, as in they wouldn't blink when I pushed the lever. I figured the relay went out, so I swapped it out with a known working one. That temporarily...

    What are these wires

Replace that plastic oil pressure line with a copper one when you get a chance. They get hot and can melt, and easily pull out of the fitting. I had it happen, 70 psi on a cold start, lots of oil under the hood, pooling in the valley on the high rise intake.

    72 Swinger headlights

See in the 2nd pic, the bezel is a separate piece from the center grille? It's held in with 4 long screws on the front. Remove those 4, then remove the bezel. Then you'll see a chrome ring surrounding your headlight, it will have 3 screws. Only unscrew them enough to twist that chrome ring...

What does the white wire clip to?

Is the wire for your brake light switch hooked up? I seem to recall it being white.

Aftermarket Tach and were to get lighting from

I had a fuse box like that once, where it was a mess. I just ran a wire through the firewall down to the wires feeding the headlights, and spliced into those.

how much of a job to change blinker switch???

Very easy. Pull the steering wheel, take out a few screws, change out the plastic cam. While you're in there, take out the broken pieces which are most likely floating around the column somewhere.

    Problem with radio

Try wiggling the antenna cord that plugs into the radio. Mine did this, it was a loose connection. The male end was getting old and worn out.

wont start but turns over strong???

That's what I was just going to suggest. I started the Valiant this morning, let it run for a bit, put it in reverse and it died. Wouldn't start for the life of me. Pulled a known working one from another car, swapped it over, started right up. Looked at the old one and it had burned right through.

    Grounding the instrument voltage regulator

Nevermind. It's my column shift not lining up. Neutral safety isn't happy.

    Grounding the instrument voltage regulator

Well, the fuel gauge works now. However, when I turn the key, the starter makes a loud click and won't engage. Odd. It was starting fine before, what changed??

    Grounding the instrument voltage regulator

Well, I figured out what was smoking. One of the copper strips on the printed circuit board melted. So, I pulled a gauge cluster from one of my parts cars, and the gauges and circuit board look perfect. I don't think It's ever been out of the car. I also managed to find a couple voltage...

    Grounding the instrument voltage regulator

Alright, sounds good. Which prong does what on the voltage regulator? And what's an easy way to test to see if the one I thought I melted, is actually alright? Any kind of bench test?

    Grounding the instrument voltage regulator

Thanks for the input. I'll try the ground lead from the cluster. Also, none of my cluster lights work (other than turn signals and high beam indicator). This could all be cause of a bad ground. A few of my prongs have recently come a bit loose.. Is there a simple fix for these? Or should I...
