    440 rv motor

So there is a 440 on craigslist that I spoke with the owner about, it is from a 77 RV, it has 902 casting heads, I have heard of 906's of course, but what's the scoop on 902's? I am sure it is a low compression work horse, and reportedly has low miles. From what I'm told the motor mounts from...

    They're still out there -

I'd give my eye teeth for a chance at a car like that... It will be a fearsome street machine with some love and some time. Man, they just don't have backyard finds in San Jose like that. At least not that I can find, and I been tryin for years.

    3 good men

My duster is running again, and it's all thanks to Greg from berkeley, jomoper, and Big D from South San Jose, after going thru three different setups I got it right last night and drove the car, smooth as can be, and I have to give some credit where credit is definitely due. I have enough parts...

Need an A body rear end- badly!

Well, there are definitely some differences between different 7.25 rear ends. The broken one I have has a five bolt flange and takes 10" brakes, the other one has four bolt flange and 9" brakes, and none of it will interchange, of course. And, you can't redrill the 10" backing plates to work on...

No worries little brother, I know you, you'll find a better deal. Good guy alert, this guy, Dustya 383, gave me valves for my 302 heads, for free, with a phone call, he even picked me up. I've known this guy since he used to play with my son and he deserves a good deal. If you want I'll keep my...

    I decimated my rear end

Here ya go, this was once part of a spider gear. Should I just weld them for now? run a spool? I think I would prob snap an axle, the way this thing is built. My friend said DON'T DO IT but at this point whats the worst that could happen? Wait, don't answer that. I figured it out. :mumum:

    I decimated my rear end

I have Dunlap 265/50's in the back, that didn't help I'm sure. No, it didn't rev free. I have a rev limiter anyway, set at 5500 right now for break in. Its gonna be an ordeal, I looked on craigslist and there's nothing I can afford. Great.

broke in the new engine- but need help

The tubes! And the firewall at the back, and the steering box on the side, there just aint no way to get in there. Twelve point? I'm gonna try it. I have regular hex bolts on it now. That must be the reason. Do you have extra long ones for the outermost holes on each end? Cause I had water...

well, I aint got much grill left to speak of anyway, ha! Consequences from when I lived a harder lifestyle, you know. I got the old engine out yesterday, and the new one in, and I am NEVER pulling a small block without pulling the tranny with it EVER again! It was easy to get the old one out...

    valve spring compressor

I bought a craftsman valve spring compressor and was putting some Isky toolroom springs on my 302's, they are a single spring with a damper. They bent the valve spring compressor. Has this happened to any of you? Now the heads are on, but I want to replace the valve seals, I got some new ones...

    360 heads on a 318. good idea?

Strip dominators are awesome! I gave my M1 to my brother, but I have the holley sitting on my engine right now till I can pull the performer off my other block. Very cool intake. Too bad I can't really use it's potential, with only a 270 cam. I was gonna use some 340 heads on my 318 but I talked...

    TRW pushrods

I have TRW pushrods pn# 48814 and the only length I can find listed is 7.492 hydraulic with adjustable rockers. My calipers aren't big enough to measure these right, I am concerned because the length listed by comp cams for their pushrods for this applicaion is 7.389. So, which is correct? Do...

    new build specs

The cylinders had good compression when run last, so I checked close for any scoring, things are good. Light hone and good to go. Put it all back together. New bearings, plastiguage, torqued to 95 on the mains, 45 on the rods. .0004-.0006 tolerance. Good. Installed the new melling high volume...

    new build specs

I am installingthe cam advanced a few degrees, so bottom end should be plentiful. The runners on the 302 heads are small but they have been cleaned up pretty well, and are ported to the size of the ports of a cast 360 intake. They were going to be run on a 360 and I convinced them that my 340...

Can someone help me ID this cam?

It was ground by Cal Cams, numbers are 275-10-S 31A with the initials TJ. The solid lifters had an extra deep oiling groove, like REALLY deep. 1/4 inch or more. It is in great shape and was supposed to be pretty big. I'd like to find the spec's but I googled cal cams and all that came up were...
