    Floor shifter connections

Can someone post a photo of the lower end of a floor-shift torque shaft assembly where the lower rod attaches with a rubber grommet?

What u-joint do I have on my 489 case?

Just remeasured with a clip installed on one of the yoke ears and found the diameter to be closer to 1-1/8". Looks like it is a 7290 after all.

Would a 727 out of a 77 Van work in an A body?

Darcy, Aaron and I dropped one into his '74 Duster from my folks' 80s Dodge Maxivan. We even used the slant six transmission cross-brace. We moved the automatic floor shift/console over from a '73 Duster and everything bolted right up to the transmission. Jerry

B body axle in A body?

Aaron and I recently installed a '68 Charger 8-3/4" rearend into his '74 Duster. We cut nothing and narrowed nothing, and you can see that it fits nicely. As Rob stated, the shackles hang at a slight angle because of the extra 1" width between the spring perches. But, we didn't feel like it...

    Another Driveshaft question.

That makes it too easy. I was told there are two lengths of 727 slip yokes, so I guess you would have to take yours to them so they would make the correct calculation. I noticed that mine is not splined inside completely to the end. I would hate to run out of splines and twist them off on a...

    Another Driveshaft question.

Oops! Sorry, I mis-typed it as 45.99". I was thinking that would be a bit too long. Your 45" sounds closer to what I had calculated.

    Another Driveshaft question.

A question pertinent to this thread... I also need to have a shaft made for Aaron's Duster 360/727/8.75 setup. If I push the front yoke all the way into the tailshaft until it bottoms out, how far should I pull it out to take a measurement for the shaft length? I know there needs to be a...

    Need yoke for 727 transmission

We tried two different drive shafts and both won't fit the transmission. The 727 output shaft is 1.3" dia. with 30 splines (no master spline). Is this typical for 727 transmissions? The yokes on the test shafts were smaller dia. and had 25 splines with a gap for a master spline. One of the...

    8 3/4 Rear

Or... install it as is and don't worry about the 1/2" difference in the perch locations - let the leaf springs hang at a slight angle. Many have been done this way over the years without issue. Make up for the extra length with wheel backspacing.

    Ford 8.8 Swap

Not to beat a dead horse, but... do I understand you correctly? The Ford engine/tranny is centered, but its differential is offset to produce an engineered angle between the transmission and pinion, just so the U-joints can be lubricated. On the other hand, the Chrysler engine/tranny is...

    Ford 8.8 Swap

    Ford 8.8 Swap

I've never measured the axle tube lengths on a Chrysler rearend to see if they are equal, or if the differential is centered. But, when I installed a floor shifter and console in a '74 Duster, I noticed the transmission hump is not centered in the floor. Checking further to see why, I realized...

    Anyone using Lokar kickdown cable?

Aaron and I just installed Lokar throttle and kickdown cables in his Duster today. The instruction sheet for the kickdown says to adjust it so that when the throttle is wide open the cable has no slack. As I see it, "no slack" in the cable does nothing to pull the throttle pressure lever...

    Where to buy U-bolts?

Had to take a hack saw to the rearend U-bolts yesterday to get them off. Where should I look for them at a reasonable price? They are for a Duster 8-1/4" rearend/axle assembly. Thanks, Jerry

What can you tell me about this rearend?

Aaron and I finally cracked open the 8-1/4" rearend we planned to swap into his '74 Duster that is under construction. Here is what we found: There wasn't any oil and a couple of bolts inside were loose. Its seems that a previous owner had been doing something in there, but I don't know...

    Problem with my dipstick!

I did buy a bender, but the tubing is so stiff and the radius so tight, I wasn't able to get anywhere with it. The end of the tubing that needs bending is too short to get a good grasp when you put the bender on it. And when I tried using the spring over the tube, the bender crushed some of...

    Problem with my dipstick!

Aaron recently bought a brand new dipstick for his 360, and I thought it a bit odd that the tube was absolutely straight. There's a fuel pump and alternator smack in the way. I figured we would have to bend it to fit, but apparently we bent it too much. Now the dipstick won't hardly slide...

    Filling torque convertor??

I sure hope we didn't jump ahead of ourselves in our haste to get the transmission and new engine installed in Aaron's Duster. I just realized that, unlike the torque convertor on his Dart Sport's 904, the one we have in his Duster's 727 does not have a drain plug. Of course, that might have...

Bringing the girl up right... and nice and safe in MOPAR steel. Good job. You threw me off track when you mentioned "changing the clutch", because the A904 is an automatic transmission. Your problem might be the torque convertor or a pump issue. Checked your tranny's fluid level and...
