You can run your fingers over the block if you don't mind getting your hands dirty. Those numbers are large enough where you can tell what they are by feel.

    Struggles after 4900 rpm

I think it's those wires you put on there. If you have a digital ohmmeter, check the resistance in all the wires, the resistance should be close to each other. If you have one that's really out of whack from the others, then you probably found your culprit. Or like the 67cuda360 said, change...

    340 Build

I'm hearing a lot of good things on the Lunati Voodoo cams. So much so that I have just purchased PN 60403 for my 340 project which will be similar to yours.

    Edelbrock Air-Gap intake reviews???

When dealing with supply and demand economics, your looking at the market as a whole...not just a single reseller. As you mentioned, there are E-bay resellers selling lower than Summit. Which technically, makes it available to buy for you and me. The lowest cost on Ebay brand new for the...

    X heads on a stock 360???

What heads do you have on their now. If they're J heads, it shouldn't make a difference in compression. The difference between X and J heads are the intake valve sizes.

    302's on the 360 ?

Keep the J heads on there Scott. With the amount of work and cam you have in your 360, you won't see any benefit with the 302's. The 302's are a 318 head with 1.78 intake valves.

    360 Stroker Identification

You cannot tell without a teardown. Stroked 360's never came from the factory so all identifying #'s and markings would be 360. you would need to tear a head off or the pan and measure the stroke.

    What oil has zinc now?

Here's Valvoline's plug on the VR1. There is some good general knowledge. However, they do not make the distinction between their off-road and street oils. http://www.valvoline.com/downloads/2008-003a.pdf Anyone use Royal Purple AFTER the motor is broken in?

I vote for the Eddy heads and 2nd the motion to send to BJR for the proper port work.

    340 with 6 pack price.

Keep in mind that Darts never came with 340 6-packs from the factory. Adding the 6-pack to a 340 is an easy swap...and a common one in the late 70's/early 80's. It's highly unlikely that it is a T/A motor. But nevertheless, it is worth checking out. Be sure to run the #'s on the block (TA) and...

    318 mods?

A small journal 340 crank with a 3.58 stroke like this one should bump the displacement to around 345 ci. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=SCA%2D934010&autoview=sku

Use the 208/213 cam if you plan on keeping your stock 2.76 gears. It will be much larger than your stock 318 cam.

Check to see if there is a small metal tag attached to the differential cover. It should have the gear ratio on there. Or you can jack up the rear end, place the gear in neutral, use a piece of chalk to mark the tire and the driveshaft. Spin the the tire around once and count how many times the...

    Engine Build Decision Help

Agreed with what was said above. Cast crank should be fine. PHR built a 554 HP Magnum stroker with a cast crank with a redline of only 6000 rpms. So if you stay around 500 or less, you'll be ok.

    MP .474 purple cam

The Voodoo cams are very effective and would be a good choice. You can do a search of the forums on Voodoo cams and pull up some good info. Mopar cams are old designs but still effective with the right combo. I had a friend run low 13's-high 12's with the 284/484 cam...back in the 90's. I...
