    Im going to replace my small yoke on my 8.75, for a 7290 or 1350......is it a simple as unbolting and bolting in the new one? Not shimmed or anything? I realize some are 10spline vs 29spline. Just never had a 8.75 3rd member apart......:toothy8:

    Define "surgery"......The floor will need to be moved around a little bit here and there, as any OD trans will require (that I am aware of anyway). In my specific case it was a ton of surgery, however that was a unique fitment requirement. I dont think the 700R4 has a removeable bellhousing...

    I'd run it if I had it, break it then go out and buy a Dana. Probably not the most logical route though. By the time you sell your 8.75, dont buy the billet mains/backbrace your half way to a Dana. Triangulated 4 link for a 9second drag car?

    GM OD tranny fit?

    This thread is a little beat-up but.........A 4l65e(60e) / 700r4 / 200r4 will not fit without mods. Crossmember, mount, little beatin on the tunnel will be required to make it fit. A Gearvendors behind a 727 is the simplest Auto OD I have a 4l65e mocked up behind a 6.1 now.

    Check with Quicktime for a bellhousing,adapter and other parts......pic'd below. Keisler uses one on their conversion packages. 4l60's can be built to handle a serious amount of power. I bet a little massaging near the tailshaft and the trans mount would all that would be needed. No idea...

    How bout keeping the Ford 9" and finding some Ford Explorer rear discs (bolt on)? Lots of them "clunkers" out there. 5x4.5 bolt pattern Or just buying an 8 3/4 out of a tub and narrow it....5x4.5 bolt pattern. I'm guessing either way you are gonna get new axles/ rebuilt center section...

    How bout a 727 w/ a GearVendors OD on the tail? SMR transmission could answer the 700ft lbs A518 for ya......` www.smrtrans.com That's a lot of torque for a small block.....
