What do you make of this, hot push rods.

Pulled the valve covers to have a look and this is what I found. Have not measured the lash yet but the engine sounded fine and nothing felt loose. Just the noise of a solid roller valve train. These are for: #1: E #3: I #2: E & I What to check and what to look for? Opinions?

School me in Rocker Shaft Shimming.

I need to do a little valve train geometry correction. The roller on the rocker is a little far out on the valve for my liking at full lift. Right now my shafts are shimmed with a set of what looks like a tapered, curved washer. These move the shaft towards the center of the engine and...

What would you do? I broke one top ring.

In the process of cleaning I broke one top ring on one of my pistons. (I disassembled everything for cleaning, bearing replacement, cam and lifter replacement, oil pump, gaskets.) Cylinders were fine, I didn't have any issues with "smoking" or oil consumption before I pulled it apart...

Not your normal cam question: Bearing journals.

Ok, a quick question. (Small Block) My old cam (Crower Solid Roller) #2,3,4 journals were approximately 3/4" wide. #2 and 3 journals were fully grooved in the center. My new cam (Lunati Solid Roller) #2,3,4 journals are approximately 9/16" wide. #2 and 3 journals have oiling holes. I...

Concerned about my cam choice. Opinions.

This is what I am replacing. It worked very well and sounded great. I have the compression (11+), heads, Victor 340 intake, Holley 800 dp, 4 speed, 3.91 gears, TTI 2.5" exhaust with "X" pipe and 26" tire so support it. But I also have the 340 exhaust manifolds back on (but we can ignore...

Stalled on Roller Lifter selection (340).

I didn't want to hijack this thread...... http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=168963 What I am looking for is a quality, solid roller that does not need grinding of the lifter valley. My old lifters looked just like the Comp 828's but had an inboard vertical bar...

Who is "THE" custom cam guy?

Who is "THE" custom cam guy? Im at the point where I need some real experienced advise for my cam selection. Im just about positive it will need to be a custom grind. The basics: 340 4 Speed 3.91 gearing X heads (ported and have supported consistent high 11s) Compression is in the mid 11s...

    Actual compression of a 68, 340?

Actual compression of a 68, 340? I know the advertised number but I have seen posts on here that said when the math was actually done it was usually a bit off. Just curious. Thanks.

318 to stock 340 power level questions.

So…… After having my car sit for 2 years because I haven't wanted to de-tune my original 340 (12.1 compression, solid roll cam, Holley 800DP, Victor 340) I have reached a decision. Well, the decision was made for me. I just got a 60,000 mile, 1968, 318 that is complete (carb to pan with...

    Crank end play, 340

Crank end play. So I was changing the lower pulley on my 340 to the new one for AC and without a doubt my endplay is out of spec. I would say (using my eyeball gauge) that it is at lease .10+. The hard life of 8000rpm up shifts and a 4 speed I guess. The engine is coming out anyway...
