Bought the trunk lid from Junkyard Crawl Dart Sport - how to clean it?

I’m about an hour south of Bernardston Auto Wrecking where Steve Magnate films his frequent Junkyard Crawl videos. If you haven’t checked out his YouTube channel., You’re missing out! Fascinating and educational stuff. A little while back, he featured a 1975 Dodge dart sport in a very...

Repro direct connection trunk lid spoiler- any ideas on mounting without drilling?

I just got my repro spoiler (bought from the usual guy on Ebay) painted up and ready to mount. I don't have a spare trunk lid and drilling holes in my car is something that I really, really prefer not to do. Can you guys recommend any kind of clips or adhesive mounting system that would hold...

Afternoon project? 1973+ bumper reinforcment removal for weight reduction...worth it?

It looks like there's a heavy gauge piece of sheet metal, presumably as a reinforcement, just behind the front bumper of my Dart. I assume that this is common to other '73+ A bodies as well... Is it possible to just unbolt the bumper, remove this chunk of metal and bolt the bumper back on...

New hood alignment fun. Any advice?

Maybe I’m a bit dense but I’ve gone around and around trying to adjust the mounting points on the hinges. I’ll fix one side and then it’s messed up in a new, exciting way. Is there a trick? I plan to keep messing with it but I feel like at some point In ~50 tries, I should have gotten it to...

How do you know if your springs are too strong for your fiberglass hood?

This may seem like a dumb question...if the structure of the hood is excessively stressed by the force needed to close the hood against the springs, your springs are too strong...right? Is it that simple? Assuming the hood isn't going to just crack and shatter right away, how do you know if the...

Hood Springs: Heating with a torch to reduce tension (while on the car???)

Someone mentioned this in a thread recently and I can't remember where. It was suggested that one option for reducing hood spring tension was to open the hood, open the door and point a propane torch onto the spring and get it good and hot until it starts to unwind a bit. If this really is a...

New fiberglass hood: Has anyone ever had success with flat black rattle cans?

I don't doubt that it's possible...I'm just wondering if it's realistic for a person of average skills to accomplish this. :D My AAR Fiberglass "six pack" hood is slated to arrive this week. I've heard that they generally don't require a huge amount of prep (and I'm hoping this is true!). Like...

    73+ door beam-ectomy - worth it?

Correct me if I’m mistaken but the 1973+ models received some “improved” side impact protection in the form of steel beams in the doors. How much steel is in there? Is it worth removing these beams to save the weight? Do they even really make the car that much safer?

How much does a hood scoop actually help?

I'm not sure if this is better suited to one of the engine forums or not but I figure that it might fit here too. I'm excited to get a fiberglass hood for my Dart to shave off another pretty good chunk of weight. So far, I like the looks of the lower profile "six pack" style hood offered by...

Anyone running without a front bumper? How does it look?

Some cars look great without bumpers, some look ugly, some look downright mean. I really don't know where the various A-Body models would fall on the spectrum but if anyone is willing to share their pictures or opinions, that would be very welcome.

Mounting fog lamps - do I have to drill my bumper?

While I am a fan of the later A-Bodies, I do find that in my personal taste, the beak cars (like mine) look really sharp with auxiliary round fog lamps mounted in front of the grille and the extra depth de-emphasizes the beak and the blockiness that makes the later (Darts especially) cars look a...

1973 bumpers: significantly lighter than '74+?

I have been plotting to order up fiberglass front bumper for the Dart for a while now...I kept hearing how much weight there was to save off of the late A-Body cars because the bumpers had the extra support built in and weighed a lot because of it. Honestly, despite having climbed all over...

Anyone ever cut a vented "heat extractor" fiberglass hood?

I am always daydreaming about ideas that aren't the common muscle car type tricks, that are (hopefully) functional, tasteful/subtle, and most importantly, reversible. I have been looking at fiberglass hoods for a long time but I have to be honest that the scoop hoods from AAR (not sure who else...

    Installed Direct Connection chin spoiler...flex???

hey, guys. Original DC chin spoiler secured at four points on the bumper supports....which seems to be the intended installation. Surprisingly, I am able to press on the spoiler and flex it quite a bit. It deflects more than I would have guessed. Is this correct? Seems like it needs a brace in...

DC chin spoiler- asking before I drill!! :)

A forum member recently sold his DC chin spoiler to me for a fair price. He said that he had mounted it to the "inner and outer bumper brackets" (which I assume he means outboard and inboard legs of the "Y" shaped supports)... Is this where Direct Connection suggested that this should piece...

'73+ Big bumpers- any attempts to change the look?

I can't say that I hate the big bumpers on out '73+ cars but they definitely lack the clean appearance of the older cars and they also weigh a ton. Have any of you guys modified them at all? I am wondering how they might look if cut down to reduce the mount by which they stick forward...or...

Converting '73 Dart nose to '69 Dart nose- what's needed?

I'm giving this some serious thought... I understand that the fenders are the same.... I would need a hood, grille (with light assemblies), bumper with brackets, headlight buckets (I believe they're different?)... what else? Is the cowl the same? Has this ever been done? I'd love to...

    Fiberglass bumpers?

Is there a good source for these out there? I understand that my 'Sport bumpers might be tricky to find but any links would be appreciated.

    Tucked bumpers for '73+ Dart/Duster???

I like the look of the '73+ cars but I have to admit that the bumpers are downright 'uge. Has anyone ever tucked/shaved/modified them? If so, how did it look? Is there a fiberglass option that would emulate this look (and save some weight too)?

Mopar official Fog Lights (as seen on Hang Ten Dart Sport)

Do you guys know anything about these fog lights? Is it an official part? The look is great...I'd seriously consider adding them to my Dart!!

Where can I find this grille for my Dart Sport?

My '73 (318 powered) Dart Sport has the unpainted grille but I have always loved the black one like the gorgeous car in the attached (borrowed) picture. Can anyone point to a source to this part? If they're hard to come by, would it be possible to replicate this part by masking/painting...

Bigger sway bars.. is it worth it?

My 318 Dart Sport has a pretty sissy looking sway bar up front. Did the high performance versions have beefier ones? Does it make a worthwhile difference in how the car would handle? Thanks!!

    Dart Sport tail light trim

Hey, everybody! This forum seems amazing! I have a 1973 Dart Sport that's in pretty good shape, just need tidy a few body issues up and then get to work on swapping out the 318. I am looking for some tail light trim like what you see in this picture...
