Keep in mind, a A-body that's "fitting" for a 10 second pass (in other words, not all rotted out underneath) might kill the budget. If I pay 3k for a decent 4 door A body that's a driver already, ummmm.... yeah, there went the budget. I'm serious enough to have a ton of fun trying to hit 10's on this budget. Again, I don't have a wager on it, nor do I have my pride on the line or anything else. Just a fun time trying!Your going to need every bit of a 440, I think its foolish to give up the difference of a 440 and a 400 or a B or F body and a A body. If your serous about tens for 5K you can't give away power or weight.

I don't care how fast your gole is but if your not serious about it your car will not perform. Sometimes your talking about 4000lbs Bbodys, 3800 Mbodys but you keep saying 3000lbs, theres a full second between 4000 and 3000 lbs.
Your talking about 400s instead of 440s and theres a half second between the two. A low compression smog 440 is good for 325 to 350 hp and that's it, you can't make power with less than 8:1 cr.
Theres formulas for going tens and you apparently arnt aware of them.
