Has anybody installed a solid roller in to there 5.2 or 5.9 and just let it rip? Any mods before hand?

Are you talking about just the block as a magnum base or more about the magnum heads?
Comp 8043-16 solid rollers are Pushrod oiling and oil the rollers I think your 1008-16's would work as well
custom pushrods
Better rockers (I believe you can use chevy aftermarket for the mag heads)
Better springs (K-motion is what I recently used)
I used a normal LA milodon bronze distributor gear in my 5.9 block
Yup. Just the Magnum block. Are you talking about just the block as a magnum base
besides the shaft oiling problems, I think it will be pretty straight forward.Yup. Just the Magnum block.
Not the heads. I have the W series @ the ready.
Well you already have the taller lifter bores and I didn't have to bush anything. The milodon bronze gear kit fit in my.mag block just fine. I used a Howard's billet solid roller cam for an la and it works so far. I didn't do any actual block mods beside finding the proper lifters.@Toluene56
Well, all this head talk is nice. But you haven’t answered my question.
Sorry, I thought my question was point blank and simple but obviously not since you & famous bob wanna talk heads.
well I only have about 30miles on this engine. Just finished it. I did have one point hitting the gas and it zipped to 6k quicker than I could blink. After a few more miles i'll lean on it some more to see how she rev's out. But so far so good.Oh wow that’s cool. How high you spin that machine?
My engine builder did put spacers in the stock magnum lifters making them solid. We are running the now solid lifters with a Crane hydraulic roller cam. The engine is turning 7000 -7200 rpm in the traps.I remember reading somewhere that guys were making aluminum spacers and putting them inside stock magnum lifters and running them with solid rollers. Ill have to dig around to see if i can find the thread.
Stack washers in them. There used to be a guy that put a spacer in them that only allowed ~.020 movement. Just enough to have a cushion effect I think. Not a true solid lifter but pretty close. He made them in batches years ago.
Wouldn't a true solid roller lifter be lighter than the OE hydraulic lifter? That seems like a good upgrade.
I don’t have a scale on hand to measure grams but I do have both lifters available for weighing. That is a good question though. There used to be a guy that put a spacer in them that only allowed ~.020 movement. Just enough to have a cushion effect I think. This is a stock Magnum block correct? My engine builder did put spacers in the stock magnum lifters making them solid. We are running the now solid lifters with a Crane hydraulic roller cam. The engine is turning 7000 -7200 rpm in the traps.
Hate that place. Besides, I wouldn’t bother with trick Hyd. roller lifter upgrades. Just go with the right & better roller to begin with.

NoOk so your question is about a magnum short block with W heads, right?
That’s a 50/50 because you can get gear to oil the W2/5 via pushrods (TD) or the regular LA method of oil up through the block into the heads. If that's right, just have the Magnum block deck drilled through for rocker shaft oiling and chose your poison for W series valve gear. Right?
Myself as well.Any competent machine shop could do it. Hell, for that matter, someone good with a drill press could set it up, I imagine.
No
There were W head assumptions.
While I will be using W5’s up top later, there is no question about there use or set up from myself.
My question has nothing to do with the W heads.
The question is,
“Who has installed a solid roller in a 5.2/5.9 and let it rip?
Any mods done? Like oiling, lifter bore correction, etc....

Myself as well.
I poked around the Hughes site and they sell their "Race Max" solid roller lifters for Magnums; listed as having 270 grams weight, 1.756" seat height (about .500" less than a factory hyd. roller) and oil pressure fed to the roller bearing axles and pushrods. For $655 + fees, plus it sounds like they're meant to work without block mods... I'd rather do that than a heavy factory lifter stuffed with washers lol

Oh yea, no problem Bobby!Ok, thanks for clearin that up. The whole W head thing was blowin my mind. I was thinkin, where the heck did that come from.
I don't know if he has done it or not, but maybe @Bighead440 will chime in.
