When I bought this car for my dad, the original 273 had been removed and 360 had been installed. Runs great, but, when I was changing the oil, I realized the Kevco aftermarket oil pan was protruding lower than the front cross member; not good. Unfortunately, I am new with Mopar motors so is there a more shallow oil pan for this application, and will I have to change the oil pickup for a stock type pan? Will a stock 360 pan fit in 67 Dodge Dart GT? Another question, is there a remote oil filter set up I can install on this motor to clear the passenger side torsion bar? There is no room to get an oil socket or oil wrench on it to remove it, and not enough room to screw the oil filter off even I could get it loose! What do you all recommend? Thanks all in advance...

One problem you run into with stock "replacement" pans, including moroso, is that if you have some hi volume pumps, the damn pan will not clear them. I nearly ruined one pan trying to hammer it enough to clear.

Nothing wrong with that pan in that car (although I am curious about that metal line that runs to the upper fill hole?). Unless you're going off roading, it's all right for the pan to hang below the K member.

There shouldn't be any problem getting the oil filter out either. Maybe someone has put the taller filter on it? It still should come out without removing the torsion bar. Put the shorter filter back on.

Good luck!

I concur- oil pan below the k frame is normal even with a stock set up. You can also raise the engine by shimming up the engine mounts some but that may cause you other headaches.

I can't fathom anybody wanting to change out that oil pan. Someone busted major *** to put it in there and it's HIGH DOLLAR, but you wanna put a stock oil pan back on it??? :realcrazy:

That’s why I’m askin’…high dollar or not, I was worried about my pops going down the road and runnin’ over something solid on the highway. The last thing I need is an 88 year old tearing the pan off his beautiful ride and gettin’ stranded…

Don't put an 88 yr old in your hopped up 67 Dart. You'll regret it.
My friends ask to drive my race car, they have no idea what they're getting into.
I almost blacked out from the G forces, the first time I drove the thing.

Thanks for the advice…

Does he plan on offroadin it?

Lol…nope. I just found it odd the oil pan was closer to the ground than the K-member, but as I stated above, I’m new with Mopars and was just asking for advice on possibilities and the clearances. If I have to, I’ll fab a sheet metal skid plate to protect it. Apparently, I was mistaken in my assumption and will leave the pan alone…

I appreciate y’all for the advice and suggestions. I will, most certainly, take all the comments under advisement on how I am going to proceed…thanks again!

You're welcome. Getting that oil filter out with headers can be tricky, but it's definitely doable. Think of it like one of those puzzles that looks impossible. There is a way to solve it, you just have to figure it out. Good luck!

I have a 68 Barracuda with a 360 , so far same engine bay.
it has TTI headers on it, NO oil-filter adapter, and I use the short oil filter, which practically falls out....... but it does make a mess on it's way down.

As for the oilpan,
I run a 7qt Morroso roadrace pan, that hangs down about 1" below the K. I have 1.03 bars and HD shocks, and the suspension is set to about 5 inches from pan to road. A skid-plate was added after I cracked the pan on a small jump, when the pan was a lil lower.. lol. Had to take the pan off to clean the oil out of the crack. What a chitjob it was to get that to stop leaking. Made the skidplate the next day.

As mentioned, a right angle filter adapter should solve your oil filter problem. Had a 340 in a '65 Valiant and don't remember any problems with the oil filter (with factory adapter) and it's tighter than your '67 which is identical to the '68 'cuda the engine came out of.
If it would ease your mind about the pan, someone mentioned a skid plate. Do it. Not hard if you have some welding skills and aftermarket may be available. I fabbed and added one to my son's '71 Charger after we installed a McCandless-built 383 with a Moroso deep sump on it just for my peace of mind. :)

IMO deep pans don't belong on the street! I wondered when you said for your dad. A younger dad that has driven cars with deep pans maybe ok. 88 years old-no way. There is a You Tube guy that's working on his wife's 73 Charger. 451 stroker with a deep pan. Then the shop owner where they are working on it said they were going to lower it. I left a comment that women drivers and deep oil pans do not mix well together! If you have tall tires on the front and crank the torsion bars up-that would help. Everybody thinks they have to get their cars LOW. Here in Nebraska we have rough railroad tracks, giant potholes, and raccoons as big as St Bernards. If you hit any of these, you'll be leaving 5-6 qts of oil on the road!

I like stock-ish stuff too. I used a Milodon pan and love it. Here's my review of it.

I don't happen to have a photo or video that shows it from the bottom of the car, but yeah.... I don't think it hangs down like a race pan.
