I would like to ask that people watch the F*&%#n road and not be so concern about there cell phones.Today I was helping a driver who lost a item from his truck and cause a few problems on the highway. No big deal,we pulled over and told him of the problem and that was solved and began to walk away when a stupidSOB in a ford F150 hit me from behind in the my back with his right side mirror,5 feet off the shoulder from the right side white line sending me to the hospital. He was on the cell and was not paying attention.I am in one piece, and the doctors say its a miracle as the owner of the truck said he hit me at 45-50mph with the mirror. So yes,he was over the right side white line by some 5-6 feet and and just saw us at the last second.Six more inches and my *** was toast. So please pay attention and slow the **** down, mrmopartech

Damn! Glad to hear you are still with us! Cell phones are finally illegal to use while driving in Washington, not that anyone pays attention!

VERY scary story. An asshole like that SHOULD lose his licence for a year or so, then we would have a LOT fewer of these sorts of "accidents" out there.Notice the quotation marks around accident. We call a LOT of things accidents that dont really fit the definition. An accident is a sudden & unexpected occurrence, whereas something like this is a natural & expected consequence of asshole behaviour. My wife yammers on the cellphone when shes driving, & nothing I can say to her seems to make any difference. I wish the HELL they would make it illegal out here, because she is the law abiding type, and that would be enough to get her to stop. It worries me sick that she is gonna hurt herself or someone else because of it.

I was put on a back board and off in the monster truck ambulance, which rides vary close too or worse than a monster truck,so I have no idea at this piont, but I have the guys card. The provincal cop had vinsions of be splatterd all over the highway, but was not to impressed by this dudes actions, being I was some 5-6 feet to the right of the white line on the right side, even a dumb cop can do some math and figures, like what the F%$* are you doing that far over not looking where you are going on a clear day with little to no traffic.I hope they nail his as to the wall,as the day after is alot worse than the yesterday, large lumps are appearing on my back, that make the wife go,OH MY GOD,you should be dead, mrmopartech

I am soooo glad to hear you are ok, But keep an I on your neck and shoulder.
Nail him to the wall and make sure there is no nerve damage Mrmopartech.
We have got to stop this phone and driving thing, I drove to get me a BBQ sandwich yesterday and it seemed every car I seen they was on the phone.
If you think you are sore today , Just wait till tomorrow bud, Take care and I thank god you are still with us.

You,re lucky you were,nt hurt seriously or killed! It,s time they start enforcing the laws with talking on cell phones! How hard is it to pull over to talk on one?Hopeing a speedy recovery!

Wow, glad to hear you are OK! I'd be mad as hell too.

On "Mythbusters" they set up an experiment and found that driving sober while using a cell phone was far more dangerous than driving with a .10 BAC. Scary stuff.

Glad to hear you weren't hurt more seriously. They are starting to crack down on drivers using the cell phones around here now...it's much more dangerous than people think.

WOW! I'd be fuming too, I hate seeing people driving while on their cell phones, PULL OVER (not when someones on the shoulder), and return the call with the vehicule stopped.

Glad to hear you're alright !
Wishing you all the best, and a quick recovery!

Giles (and Brenda)

Glad to hear that you are OK, for the most part, Scott.

I give crap to people all the time that are on their damn cell phone. They just don't give a dang. Morons :angry3:.

Keep a log of all the aches and pains and meds, etc. to be able to charge the **** with anything that you can.

Good luck, and take it easy.

I am in the Army and it is against DOD regulations to drive while using your cell on the installation. If you get caught on Fort Bragg you get a hefty fine and loose your driving privilege on the installation for 6 month's. It's even worse if you cause a wreck. Glad to hear you are OK. Hope you get to feeling better.

Take care of yourself......I always pull over on the shoulder to use my cell phone. Then I have to worry about A-Holes like the guy the that hit you plowing into the back of my vehicle.

Yep I am with you bro.I sometimes have to go on the 401 and HATE IT there Crazey on there.I set the speedo at 99 ksss 100 is max,and they all go 120 or better.

I hope Mrmopartech is ok, I am going to do a search on his last post.

This thread has his last post in it. I hope he is just to busy and is doing fine!!

I haven't heard from MrMopartech in three days...or seen any signs of him on the site here and is other favorite hang out.

I'll call him to get an update.

Hope your O.K. Scott and everything is going well, you will definately be sore for a few days. Did the cop file a report, where an ambulance was called I would assume so. Keep record of everything, should be worth a few thousand then maybe asses like that will think twice before they drive and talk next time. Your lucky it wasn't more serious, because it sucks big time not being able to do the stuff you once could. Good luck hope all is well.

Side mirrors have been designed with weak break away mounting long before cell phones came along.
I'll be glad when they outlaw cell phone use while in motion nation wide too.
Hitting a pedestrian is a shocking event regardless who is at fault. I hit a 72 year old man once. He walked right out into to road. If your pickup driver is anything like me, he wont hit anyone else. Get well soon.
