* Major Rant! *

It's pretty much like that across the board. People think you can work for free. I own and operate a property maintenance company, mowing in the summer, plowing in the winter. I get calls all the time for an estimate. When I pull up to the potential customers house in a 30,000.00 truck with attached trailer containing another 20,000.00 worth of equipment they like what they see. Clean and organized. We look at the yard, discuss things with said person and determine that they have say a 2 acre yard, with 15-20 minutes worth of trimming and 30 minutes of mowing, I quote them a price. They look at me in shock and say WOW I thought maybe 20-25 dollars. Say what? Then they go on to say it takes me 2-3 hours to do it myself. Then I never hear from them. WTH. They think I'm going to cover my costs at 20 bucks a yard. Not all are like that, but the percentage is pretty high.

Yup, your time and labor ain't worth nothin and mine is worth a million bucks. Run into those guys all the time. :yawinkle:

Gas, maintenance, and repair parts don't cost anything, either, right?

sounds like a speed freak .

the only "real" way to protest this influx of chinese garbage is by purchasing as much used stuff as you can ( thrift stores , yard sales , etc. ) .
Let's work together to starve china !!!!

^^ Bravo !!!

I appllaude this sentiment, unfortunately for everyday common items we need right now we in Canada have very little choice. Im doing my best to avoid the chinese trap with my master cyl. Everyone needs to start doing this. Im going to just sleeve my master now,I cant stand the thought of trying to stop my mopar from 130 mph at the track and the master poops out.

Previouse experience has taught me not to trust chinese metallury. Now it turns out I was right,as the brakes in my Van are all chinese, and simply put they dont function nearly as well. for some reason I lost some stopping power after putting all new components on. I bought them from a local jobber (lordco) and was told that they have a brand new factory etc in china, all up to date etc. It makes not one whit of diference to the quality,as the chinese simply find ways to cut costs as soon as our backs are turned and throw quality control specs out the window in the name of profit..

I for one, dont feel it is necessary to "babysit" quality control but the chinese have proven me wrong. I am also sick of waiting for them to improve like the japs did on thier own,and now actually are better at it than we are!!

The chinese will never do this. Thier culture is so vastly different from the japs. The japs believe in honor deeply, have great pride in a job well done.

China just dont give a crap!

Now for a more personal note. Im a union worker. The great pride and care we take has resulted in some of the highest quality zinc, lead etc in the world coming out of Teck. And thats where quality control starts, with the worker.

A while back I watched an interesting show on Discovery called Factory City. Sort of like a school/housing/factory complex that makes every brand of appliance you can buy. Whether it's the cheap $20 or top o da line $200, it comes from the same place.

http://www.discoverychannel.ca/Article.aspx?aid=17074

I see there are some Youtube posts on it.. it's a sobering look to be sure.

Now that you have been educated maybe you will make a better decision next time.

I expected my honest comments on Chinese products would raise ire. :violent1: I have read all about Mao's mistakes and even worked with the first graduate students to come to the U.S. after the Gang of Four was purged. They were all over 40, educated before China went dark during the Cultural Revolution. One could well argue that business in China today is extreme capitalism, with all its excesses and need for "buyer beware". Most people complaining about it here seem to suggest government regulations that would warm a European's heart, or suggest we all work together "raising barns" to shut them down, a communal spirit even Mao could embrace :headbang:.

I love old tools and buy them at garage sales, but they are rare. Many Chinese-made products offer great value, and people vote with their feet. Rather than chastise me, you might do better standing in front of Walmart berating their customers, or picket any major port as the containers pour in.
All is not woe. A German automation vendor related that they sold equipment for a multi-axis machine to a Chinese manufacturer to make wooden "hand-carved" religious figures. That means their "cheap" manual labor is getting expensive. We could do it all in the West. Similar to the scene in "Battle of the Bulge" when the Germans capture a U.S. soldier with a cake from his mom and realize they can't win.

I can't wait to see how my new Chinese distributor works. It looks well-made. You are free to give your hard-earned money to MSD, Holley, AEM, etc, though not all their very expensive products have a great reliability record. I think my sons give way too much to Steve Jobs :D. I don't care for turtle-necks and smug attitudes.

I have owned several 57' thru 60' trucks, I still own three.

More than once I have rebuilt distributors and they were good as new after.

It was easy on my budget, kept my classic stock, and I didn't give a red cent to the chinese.

Did you consider rebuilding your stock factory American Made distributor?

There is not much to it, and it helps keep what's under the hood the same as it came from the factory.

It just doesn't seem right to do business with people that poisoned over 5000 pets here in America.

Of course these are the same people that added that same poison
"To Baby Formula" causing irreversible health problems and death to many, many infants.

But if you want to do business with these people, thats fine..........

I guess.

As for myself, if my dog, or my kid winds up dead because of "intentional" poisoning of food, by dishonest, unethical, crooked bastards.

You will read what happens next in the news paper.

No matter where you live.

Enjoy your new distributor.

One could well argue that business in China today is extreme capitalism

Exactly right. It is funny (kinda) to see the same teabaggers who rhapsodize about the infallibly divine invisible hand of the glorious free market unfettered by obtrusive government regulations, who holler and froth and wave signs and bitсh and moan about getting the government off our backs and out of our business, also bitсhing and moaning and ranting about products from China. Hypocritical, much? China is what the glorious free market looks like without government regulations!

Many Chinese-made products offer great value

No, many Chinese products offer low price. That's not the same as "low cost" or "great value" or "reasonable price". (And while I'm at it, "price point" is not the same as "price", and "price" is not the same as "cost").

their "cheap" manual labor is getting expensive.

Yep, gradually so. I wonder where the next slave pool will be. Africa…?

Let's not forget the lead paint on kids' toys, sulfur in sheetrock, etc. :disgust:

Thank you Mr. Ed

Let's all not forget Lead Paint, Cadmium, & Hard Nickel in children's toys.

And "Thousands" of American Homes that were made "Unusable".....
do to sheetrock installed that contained Sulfur, Formaldehyde, and other "Toxic Waste Products".

This in homes that were damaged or destroyed in Hurricane Katrina.

Leave it to the chinese to make matters "worse" after hard working Southerners had suffered through one of the worse disasters in recorded history!

********************************************************************

You lose your home to a disaster, your living with friends or relatives in another area.

Your home is finally repaired or rebuilt,.........

You move back in, one of the happiest days of you and your families lives.

Then your kids complain that their eyes are burning, and they are having trouble breathing, then the door knobs start turning black.

Then your wife starts getting severe headaches and breathing problems.

You call the city, they send out a couple of Haz-Mat guys, they tell you what the problem is,......
and they "Red Tag" your house!

They "Red-Tag" your New House!

You call the contractor, the recording says, "this number is disconnected, and there is no new number"

You call an attorney, "from a phone booth at the gas station, where you use the restroom because now your family is living in the family car"

The attorney says it would take about 2 million dollars to mount a lawsuit in china, just not worth it unless the home is worth twice that.

Ok, " Now enjoy your chinese distributor"

Thanks again Mr. Ed

" In case you didn't know I was born in Louisiana "

And Southerners don't cotton much to focken back stabbing communist chinese bastards that "intentionally" put poison and toxic waste in products shipped to the United States.

OH ! I get it now ! Communism IS a different form of capitalism , except that only those at the top of that red pyramid reap all of the spoils of those whom are "paying off" a generational debt to the commune-ists .

Again , a BIG thanks to Nixon and Clinton :thebirdm: . If not for you two motherfuc*ers , we'd be lost !

You forgot Ronnie Raygun,...indicted 29 times,....

the leaders of China are Capitalist, its millions of minions are Communist by force. The reap the benefits of Capitalism for themselves but force Communism on the populace...

And there you have it.

In china's case, communism is nothing more that a way to force people to labour like a slave without being one in name. The wages offerred are so low.

We call it debt slavery, except the chinese fellow never works it off.

I can NEVER forget the student run over by a tank in Tienamin square.I always have THAT image in my mind when I see a made in china label.

One thing is for sure, the chinese are fanatical about whatever they do,including the rippoff.

I think this century should go down in history as the age of cunsumer ripoffs.

Personally I think thier policies and methodologies will leave them high and dry sooner than later. They are sooooo very afraid of the populace rising up against them, that they censure the very idea! IMHO this is the best thing that could happen to china. Another peoples revoluton, but this time FOR THE PEOPLE OF CHINA and not for the benefit of a select group. They murder and jail thier own people on suspicion of disloyalty. Sounds a lot like what that idiot in Libya is doing.

One can hope that the chinese economy crashes and burns out, lol. Im doing my part. NO MORE CHINESE ****.
