My new shop thread!

A great day in the Pacific Northwest as evidenced by the beautiful view of Mt Rainier behind the Manmansion. Got the first of the shelves built and put in place with the help of the scissor lift.

We are finally at the stage of running wire. Emily is pulling Romex through the wooden loft area we put conduit though the rest of the metal building. I decided an over abundance of outlets and circuits was good, but it does increase the time devoted to the job. I would like to minimize extension cords.

I have ran millions of feet of Romex it seems :-D looks like she is doing a great job, about 30"8) that way you know where not to put a nail or screw.
Just below counter top height

Overhead lights are in. All wall outlets (120 and 240) are installed and the breaker box and meter box are in. Now we just have to convince the power company that it is OK to run an underground supply line from their transformer 15 feet across the right of way for their high voltage power lines. Unfortunately, even though it is the same company that owns both, there are two departments that have to coordinate. It has been almost a month now and they still have not made a decision. At least they have not said "NO" right away.

We got good news that the power company approved our request for underground hookup. So now we dig a trench and lay Schedule 80 pipe and they will come in an run line from the transformer on the power pole to our meter box on the shop. I have my fingers crossed that we will have power by this time next week. We also have an electric boiler and circulation system on order, so hopefully that will be showing up soon so we have heat this winter.

The great day arrives! We had the inspector come back out and re inspect the open items. We then called the power company, and they were out in a couple of hours to run the cable and hook us up! And it all works! Wooooo Hooooo!!

We purchased a heating panel from Hydro Shark in Minnesota. All we had to do was hook up the 2 50 amp 240v breakers and 1 inch copper line to the manifolds that feed the PEX pipe in the concrete slab. It takes a long time to change the temperature, but once it gets up to heat, the slab holds the heat for a long time. Sure is nice to take the chill off, especially when down working under the cars!

Heat in the floor would be great!
It looks like I could fit two or three of my shops in there.
really nice shop your building.

Dad bought himself a Christmas Present: A Bendpack four post lift. Ross and I had a fun time getting it off the trailer and put together. Here are the final results. The shop is coming together! Heat, power and lift. Now I have to run the air lines.

Nice! How is the restoration on the old pick up coming along?

its mostly all apart and the donner Dakota is almost ready to have the cab taken off so that the '41 (or is it a '40 I can't remember right know lol) cab can go onto the frame. after the cab is fit it will just be a matter of body work ect... Mostly all the parts have been media blasted and are sitting in my shop at work awaiting body work.
