Need tuning help on 340

-
I had wondered about this, whether i should put several passes on the plug first.

I am fortunate as they just built a new interchange about two miles from me, and just past it I'm in the countryside. A quick right turn and I'm on a 2-lane seldom used side road where I can see anyone coming from either direction. Over 1/4 mile straight away. Nice.:burnout:

Guess it is different for me. I spent on entire day at the track proving to a customer you can see the tune up in ONE pass down the track. We would change jets and watch the fuel ring move up and down. We could change the timing and watch the ground strap move with it. So it is total BULLCRAP that it takes more than one run to check a plug.

You need to stop with th AF meter and stop looking at just one or two plugs. You need to look at them all. The AF meter is for when you are close. You are not close.

Give it fuel. If it is lean at idle you have to fix that first, but that plug is screaming for fuel, regardless of what your AF meter is saying.

Thats what my eye is telling me too. "Converted race motor" running low compression and hogged out x heads. May be an air/fuel charge issue (not enough velocity)? Where exactly is that o2 sensor bung welded in?

You know, in spite of my age, and many years of many cars, I am pretty new at this level of tuning. And I appreciate you guys helping me "get it." I know there are a lot of opinions, and a lot of different experiences that people have, but this is helping me a lot!!!!

I'll get the timing right. Then the idle/low rpm. And then I'll get it a bunch more fuel to the motor and forget that meter for a while. Thanks!!
