Be interesting to see what "deficiencies" there are after the lease. As I said I've never leased, but I hear horror stories on lease returns and gouging.
If one was to get nailed for batteries.....
 
No matter how many negative replies you get, enjoy the car. As much as people will deny it, electric cars are still a part of automotive history, just as much as a '70 Hemi Cuda or a '71 Slant six Demon.

I'll bet slant six Demons were shunned and ridiculed back in 1971, but I was only 1 then, so missed out on all the jargon...

I've leased in the past due to job requirements. The only time I really had an issue at end of lease was when I went over on mileage. I was able to write it off, so in the end, no real issue.
I did learn to get a higher mileage lease the next time around though.
Most leases last during warranty coverage, so most anything mechanical is covered by the warranty.
I did have someone hit me in a lease car, my insurance covered the repair and it wasn't even mentioned during turn in.
Brakes and tires were covered in the lease as wear items, so I wasn't charged any additional.
As for the OP, enjoy the car. I am wondering what the lease terms are.
 
That was my first thought, that's like $4-12 per gallon for a 20mpg ICE Charger. And the ICE Charger should do well over 300 miles on a tank. Doesn't sound very road trip worthy to me.
Oops, I meant kilowatt hour as opposed to miles. I am adjusting to the new terminology. Haven’t ever talked about cars and kilowatt hours in the same sentence before…..

Lease was 24 months, 7500 miles a year. $280 / mo. $3k down. Warranty is 3 years, tires need to have 1/8 tread at turn in. The tires may get me if I have too much fun…..
 
I would never buy an electric car at this point, but leasing one seems to be low risk. My buyout price is ~50k on an 80k car. I bet it is worth about half of that in 2 years. It won’t be a daily driver for me, just a fun car.

he should already know buyout at the end of the lease. should be part of the agreement.

if they are having that much trouble selling them i can't see them holding value too well so the money factor (basically interest) on that lease can't be too good.
 
A friend of mine picked up an F150 Lightning about a year ago and I had a good chat with him a month or so ago about it and any issues or problems.
For in town, commuting to work he says it's great, costs about $10.00 to charge at home, and that will get him to work and back plus errands in town for about a month, or maybe 400-450 miles. On the highway or towing, much different story, range drops to maybe 275 miles. Overall he likes it, but doesn't consider to be capable of being a be all and do all vehicle. I believe he said the curb weight was around 7500 lbs.
I didn't drive it that time, but I will try it out next time I see him, he says it's crazy quick for it's size.

they say the 10k a year lease is where its supposed to be good. depending on lease deals at the time its cheaper to pay overage miles then to pay for the higher mileage lease. that all depends on the deals at the time though..
 
Check out my new ride! I have never been an electric car fan, but the lease on this was so dirt cheap I couldn’t help myself. Leased it for 24 months.

Easily the fastest coolest car I have ever had. 0-60 in 3.3 seconds, 11.5 second 1/4 mile.

They have gotten a lot of bad press, and they are ridiculously overpriced, but it is one of the nicest cars I have driven. This one was $80k sticker. Nobody is buying them and some dealers are getting desperate to unload them. The fake exhaust sounds are kind of hokey, but I am starting to like them.

Time will tell if it was a good idea…..

Here is a fool proof, totally analytical, evaluation process to verify your choice. Put it in the garage shut off the light. Right before you go to bed open the garage door and turn on the light. If seeing it makes you grin like a monkey you have made the correct choice!

That makes more sense. Thanks for clarifying. Any idea how many miles per kWhr the car gets? I'm curious to compare the operational costs between the electric and combustion versions.

What they request for a buyout at lease end, and actual value, might be worlds apart!
 
It can't argue that electric cars aren't fast (some are crazy fast!)
I was at my local 1/8 mi strip, (since closed) and watched a guy in the bigger earlier tesla try his hand. An absolute rookie, he couldn't find the starting line without help, had a 2.something r/t, had no clue where the finish line was, run a low seven second pass driving it to about 500 feet under power (a mid 11 second 1/4 MI lap).
Second lap, still couldn't find the starting line, but at least ran it out the back door this time. 6.70 something, so the equivalent of a low 10s quarter, from a complete rookie in a storebought golf cart.
 
It is interesting that the reviews of these cars are overwhelmingly negative online, but very positive in person. Since dodge made about 10,000, and probably only sold about 12, nobody has seen one in person. Folks stop me every time I drive it and ask what it is. Everyone who rides in it is impressed. Either that, or everyone is just being nice to a doddering old fool…..

I think most of the critics who haven’t driven or seen one in person are probably affected with a cerebral / rectal inversion……
I see at least one daily, around Motown. Lots of colors. There's a Vitamin-C looking one in our proximity. I see it at least once a week. Most are...you guessed it. White or black.
 
I'm sure that it is fun in its own way and there's no denying the power of an electric motor but it's not a muscle car just another electric car shaped like a Dodge charger. To me they just have no soul it might as well be a Tesla or a Kia or volt. If it doesn't require a bloody knuckle or occasional curse word and make you smile when it starts ...well that's nice. :rolleyes: .
It's shaped more like a Camaro...

280/mo is dirt cheap ! If it’s worth more at lease end buy it and sell it . If not turn it back .
I would be interested to know the money factor and residual on the lease .

From what I can tell, electric cars seem to get 2-4 miles per kilowatt hour. The Scatpack seems to be on the bottom end at 2 something probably.

I have never cared about gas mileage on muscle cars, so I planning on not caring about kilowatt hours either. I have done math my whole career and plan on stopping now……
 
i'd drive the **** out of it and not worry about it.. i'm not against electric cars, there is definatley a place for them.. for me if it was just a daily back and forth to work i could see it working well.. for our trips i'm not sure it would be a good fit for us.

I’ve driven a couple e-vehicles, and have considered leasing one for my commute, as my wife wants to install solar panels here….

But I would NEVER buy one straight-out, as I’ve read too many horror stories about battery replacement costs.

Hopefully the OP ( @Mike69cuda ) read the lease carefully and won’t be on the hook for replacing the batteries come end of lease.
