I disassembled the car at the end of September 07, just took it to finish painting this last wednesday.
Brief history, car is original 70 swinger 340 4spd., it was in okay condition. I stripped it completely, put it on a rotisserie, soda blasted and sand blasted complete down to bare metal.
I had goals of a mid ten's street car that I could drive a few times a week.
Replaced front floor pans and 1 hear quarter, had 6pnt cage installed with swing open doors they are also removable, as well as the rear set bar. Had laser cut frame connectors welded in, also added the shock tower to fire wall braces and the front frame rail connector.

Went with the RMS alterkation front with manual rack, and there street lynx triangulated 4 link rear with coil overs.

Had Hughes build 426 stroker, the one on there web page, over 620 hp and a bit over 600ft lbs torgue. Also running a 100 shot of juice. We ceramic coated the entire engine inside and out with appropriate coatings, (heat dispersant or thermal barrier ect..)

Had Cope Racing build a 727, using a precision 3500 stall, us cartool shaft loop, reinforced 8.75 housing , shortened 1.75 inches. Running 373 gears, M/T street slicks 255/60/R15, also had a 3 inch drive shaft with 1350 u joints.

I had the dash customized by redline gauges, and the dash pad done by just dashes. I used xv tilt column for steering and have an xv electric window kit for all four windows to finish installing still, as well as other interior stuff.

I had the underside painted the color of the car ( lamborghini orange pearl), I saw it on the concept cuda. The rest of the body was blocked once. Then I got it and installed all the fun stuff. I had a guy that works at our shop help me with it all as well as another mopar buddy. I really enjoyed the whole project so far, cant wait to get it back towards the end of Jan. from the paint shop, then to the upholster to have the vinyl roof, head liner, carpet, and door panels done. Hope this wasn't too long winded, here are some pics.

Boxer....you did an OUTSTANDING job on your Dart. Even if the factory didn't have budget restrain, I don't believe they would have done as good a job. Man that is impressive!

Aloha....Sweet...just Sweet.

Mike

PS. I just installed my dash pad from Just dashes too...they do a great job...just like yours...not cheap...but is really nice...

Looks FANTASTIC!! You sure didnt take a single short cut, I agree dfnsmn that I couldnt imagine a more perfectly done project!! Well done and I cant wait to see it after final paint!!!

I just have one thing to say to you:
DAMN, that's nice!
Great job. You gotta love all the extra room provided by the AlterK.
Enjoy!

Speechless work!

I think I just fried my keyboard with druel......yuk!

I don't even want to know how much money you have invested in that, but it was well worth it, WOW!!!!!!!!!

Holy BALLS that thing is sweet! I bet that pearl looks even better in the sun. Very nice work. I cant wait to hear how it handles.

Beautiful car. And great choice of suspension set up, engine choice, gears, tire size, everything.

Super Sweet!!!! WOW!!!! Will you adopt me?

Thanks to all for the great comments. Owning a powder/ceramic shop enables me to do allot of the detailing, again thanks.
340 sixpack, the cross member is stock, I used ceramachrome on it just like the alterkation and rear housing

Yes the pearl really pop's in the sun, can't wait to give it a run myself, should handle great.

Forgot to mention the 4 wheel disc's, I believe in the complete package for safety, brakes and suspension to equal HP.

Thanks again.

The 3 gauges in the dash look stunning... that's the way ma mopar should have done it, with the big tach (and functioning fuel gauge!)

I think I'll bookmark a link to this thread in case I win the lottery, that way I know what to do with my Swinger.

Well done!

Well, I just want to re-build MY car now.... and I just finished it!

You guys are screwing together some beautiful stuff out there. Your Dart is jaw-dropping fantastic. Just like Preston's Duster and Cudaspaz (to name a few...), some beautiful cars associated with our site.

Congratulations Boxer! Georgous car!

Thanks Fastback, I've also seen your car, it is the (to name a few as well), also a beautiful car. I am addicted to rebuilding these mopars, never have went this in depth, it has been fun. I have my buddies 70 duster on the hoist now getting ready for spring, cant get enough. Thanks again.

Very nice Boxer That car is a thing of beaty! I would like to go with the rms rear suspension on the dart that i am working on. Congrats to you! I have had mine torn down for about a year and a half and i am nn where near that close. Great looking work!

Well the paint is on, I think it looks great, Leon (body guy) really maid it straight and true. He should do the rear stripe this week. Then off to have black vinyl top and interior. I have a lot of troubles with the AAR bolt on 6 pack hood. It has a lot of serious waves. Leon guess to would take @30 -40 hrs to make it show quality like the rest of the car. Talked to AAR and didn't get much help. I am looking for a regular steel hood to mount a scoop on now.

Also, I have the sport mirrors that are painted, but I like the clean look with out the mirror with the shaved handles and side lights. What do you think, mirrors or no mirrors?
