Just saw a notice that Dan Haggerty, 'Grizzly Adams' from The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams TV show of the 70s died this morning from cancer. He was 74. The cancer was discovered last August.
I always enjoyed his show and the mountain man life it protrayed. According to the article he really had no use for the Hollywood lifestyle. He'd been an animal trainer before becoming an actor.
Funny story from the notice: Haggerty had told PEOPLE about the time "Otis Chandler, the publisher of the Los Angeles Times, invited me to his house and then took me into his den to see the huge bear he'd shot and had stuffed."
Haggerty continued, "I told him: 'Hell, any jackass can point a gun at something and kill it. I got a bear that's bigger than yours, and he rides around in the truck with me.'"

Farewell Dan, Ben (the bear) is waiting for you.

Farewell Dan, Thank you ocdart, he was on the Picker show last year, they bought a big table from him that had his face carved in it and a big old door, he is the real deal and his acting was just that, who he was. enjoyed his humble hart of gold.
RIP Dan, we could use more like him in the world today,

Wow, I hadn't heard that sad news. I did see that Pickers show, he sure was good people.

Loved watching his show as a kid growing up. Grizzly Adams amd Ol Yeller are a rite of passage. If anyone has a link to where I can watch the show post please.

RIP Dan

R.I.P. Dan, you were a real ''man's man."
A lot of people including me looked up to you.

Thanks for opening that memory again. Great show. I also loved "My Side Of The Mountain" book and movie. RIP

I wish we still had actors and shows like his.
We had a real life mountain man back home, and sometimes I wish I had been like that in my younger years,

I loved watching that show as a kid.
R.I.P. Grizzly.

It seems whenever you follow your heart, you have good memories. That's my experience anyway.

He was great, sad to hear, I loved Grizzly Adams as a kid. Did you know he (Dan Haggerty) was friends with George Barris? Seemed a little unlikely friendship

R.I.P ,outdoors man.. "Lucky 7",& Denver Pyle scenes, always hilarious,....

Growing up, he was the REAL man all kids wanted to be.
Too bad those types of shows have gone away forever.
Because TV companies cant make enough money with a GENUINE man/nature coexisting
storyline.

Such a shame how things change.

R.I.P.
