She hasn’t Divorced me yet!

Looks like it still has the Points Distributor, has the cast iron water pump for '68, pretty sure it's a square bore Carter 4 bbl setup (Edelbrock style), even has the spark plug wire tins at the driver's exhaust manifold.

Can run a business card through the points a few times to polish them up so it starts better. Probably fine, more than likely been sitting for a while.

Enjoy...

Nice car Justin. Tell the wife congratulations! You and the family should road trip to KC Saturday for the HPAC show?

Well I’ve had the itch ever since I missed out on the green 4 speed convertible a couple months ago.

Saw this one and have been checking it out for a while. My wife said she really liked it and that she would drive it all the time. (Sounds like she wanted it too!). I preferred a 4 speed but she can’t drive manual. Big shout out to @HemiSSDart for talking about the car to me and vouching for it. Took a day trip out to North/South Carolina 1.5 weeks ago and today this thing showed up.

Super clean car, probably to nice for me, my kids and ice cream… but we will enjoy it. I’ll get more pictures when it’s not raining.

Fun story of today.
Jim put the car in the garage, of course I had a contractor over at the same time to go over a French drain. We chatted for a bit then after he left the wife came out to look at the car. I was telling her how it needed nothing, started up with ease and all the good stuff….

Then I opened the door and turned the key… No Start! Cranking and no start… car flooded, I guess choke on carb (butterfly choke?) stayed open and flooded the carb. Wife said “this isn’t very promising and disappointing… and left.”

Put my foot to the floor, cranked it and got it started but at that point she was already gone.

Kids love it and want to drive it but it’s raining. The trusses in my big shop are about to be redone and then the roof spray foamed so it will stay in the house garage for a little while.

I touched the gas once and it fired right up! Probably should have let it warm up more after I backed it into the garage. Chris never had an issue starting it, but probably didn't fire it up and turn it off in a short period of time like I did.

I was actually going to buy the car 15-20 years ago before it was restored, but the owner at the time was an asshole to my insurance agent (State Farm bank was going to finance it for me) so I ended up kicking him out of the office and the car was sold to someone in Florida. Believe it or not another friend of mine from Illinois ended up buying the car and flying to Florida and driving it home (with non working heat in the winter time)! The he restored it but never drove it, and my friend Chris found out about it and bought it. So it was in my possession three times but was never mine...LOL

Beautiful car Doc.

My Advice: tell your wife you bought it for HER!! And after awhile ask her if you can drive it or if she would like to drive it to get the family some ice cream.

She'll love you for it!!

Beautiful...just Beautiful!
I love the 68 grille.

Thanks! I definitely am glad I finally pulled the trigger on it.

The 2 actual imperfections are in the grill and the tail panel, a little flaking of the paint but not a big deal. Maybe I’ll fix them or maybe I’ll just leave them be, I assume it will be pretty expensive to fix them.

That would be fun! I really have to clean out my shop and also catch up on some work around the office this weekend though. We had family in town last weekend and I didn’t get some work stuff done I needed too.

Battle Scars, makes the car what it is.

And on buying the car, how could a person not buy it?

Hey SS if you got another one like this, PLEASE let me know. I need it.

I let another one go a couple years ago, it went to Sweden. I have two GTS convertibles and one Formula S convertible, absolute POS projects, I really need to get one already done...LOL

Very nice ride. Big block A-bodies are extremely Rare in my neck of the woods. Some years back a fellow needed right finder, front bumper, headlight door, etc... for his 383 S Barracuda. He choose to buy my entire parts car. The day we loaded it on a trailer he starts telling a tale.
He bought the car from Hagery Insurance. Shipped from CA. Previous owner sitting at top of exit ramp, Light changed and he blasted off left turn up onto an overpass. All that concrete about 45 degrees away bent a frame horn too. So why do I type all this? Your bb A-body likely has a little larger sway bar, larger torsion bars, etc.., than the lesser powered builds. Don't let that crap fool you. Just have a look. Torsion bar was a poor design. Long and limber timber. A little fatter don't matter. Torsion bars just suddenly snap. Not often but can happen.
I am not suggesting you need to throw a lot of coin at improved aftermarket suspension components. What I know is having the wife and kids along is a excellent choice. We naturally behave behind the wheel with precious cargo onboard. Happy moparing
PS, moonshine was precious to its maker LOL

It’s a very nice car, the automatic was the biggest thing that held me back for a bit. I really wanted a manual, but after driving this today… it’s freaking sweet!

Uh... that`s too easy, can`t afford it.:(

Agreed prices are the main reason most of the time. 10 years ago, heck 5 years ago I could have never bought this car.

Well. Convertible life is really a thing. This is great.

Took it to get the state inspection and registered. Came out of the dmv to a dart parked next to me, guy was taking pictures of his kids posed with the convertible. Nice guy.

Then me and rooster went the long way home.

The car runs fantastic and holy cow the transmission shifts so nicely. I’ve never had the purple car shift this nicely. Top down life is amazing. The only complaint I have is the brakes, they don’t work as well as the 4 wheel disc brakes on the purple car, not saying they are bad but they aren’t as good.

I need some license plate frames now

Is the purple manual or power brakes.

Manual takes a little getting used to. But notice the brake pedal is 2 feet wide for a reason
