just curious...what kind of mileage are you getting with your 450 - 500 hp
strokers?
the 408/416 is a build i've been considering for some time

9 to 12 mpg depending on where and how I am driving. I definitely don't drive it trying to get better mileage. That's with 3.23 gears.

I wonder if anyone is using a new EFI setup and getting much better MPG's. I would like to find out as it would be a future upgrade for me.

I got 8mpg with my 408 demon. 4.10 gears, 750dp, MP 557 cam. I am not shy with the loud pedal. Im getting porting and a new cam so we'll see how it does after that.

Restricting the IFRs in the holley was crucial to cruise afr

Customer's car - pump gas 422, 460hp or so based on ET and weight. Has gotten 17mpg with 3.23s in his Challenger but normally is around 14 with mixed driving.

I'm going to measure mine in SMILES to the gallon. Gas mileage be damned!!

That's why I put a 2004R into my barracuda before I build the 390 stroker. This way I get much better gas mileage right off the bat with 3.73 gears!! I should be cruising at about 2200/2300 RPM.

I get the same or better than a friends brand new Silverado when cruising on the highway , I usually measure it like a Semi in time , the last 3 years when traveling cross country I got 2.5 hours per 40 litres no matter what speed I travel at so I generally try to take advantage of that , this year I've gone to a bigger tire so hopefully I will get closer to 3 hour per 40 litres , that all translates to @ 10.5 gallons per 2.5 hrs = 4.2 gallons per hour divided into the speed of somewhere between 55 and 80 mph or 90-128 kmh , hoping to make that 3.5 into the speed with the new wheels and tires . confusing enough for ya eh ! LOL .

Its not all about final gear ratio- I have 4.10s but they're hooked up to an iron 833 OD- I cruise the highway 70mph around 2000rpm. Third gear 1:1 redlines at 140mph so it's a good passing gear ;)

I still wind up 2nd like a crazy person every chance I get- why not! I didn't build the car to run good mpg

I think you'll find for a certain amount of performance you'll get similar mileage no matter if you go with 340 440 or 540 or anything inbetween.
