Replaced the sway bar bushings after a bit of a fight. Both brackets look like they had hit a curb or two. The inside shape and dimensions are different between the two sides. I sliced a little bit off of one bushing to make it go!

Also got the upper ball joints separated !

Instead of the pickle fork, I fashioned a C-3711 from a 2” 9/16 bolt and welded 3 nuts together with the same fine threads as the stud. I reversed the crown nuts too so I could adjust them in addition to my tool. Jammed it in there good and popped the knuckles with a hammer. Voila!

I’ve got both LCA cycling by hand too. They’re just wicked heavy with the UCA and those massive calipers on there. TBC

Interesting that my first post on A-Bodies was related to getting the hood lined up. The body panels up front will be a recuring theme that plagued me for some time to come....
the second set of threads that i initiated were asking what first $1000 would you spend for best results at the track. That seems to sum up where my head was at then !!! It looks like I was pretty skimpy on the use of the like and thank you buttons too. I'll try to rectify that going forward.
By July 2011 I was looking to cool the engine bay down at idle. ??? The only reason I could think of why that was a problem so soon was because....

I actually was trying to race it and I remember that it didn't like idling after making a few runs.
I know this is an older thread...but. is that Bremerton? I went there one time with my 68 QQ1 blue fastback Barracuda. It was a cool track. Reminded me of something out if the 50s or 60s... trees all around.. way out in the middle of nowhere.

No worries, thanks for stoppin’ by! No that is actually the airport in Forks Washington. Speaking of nowhere.

Bremerton is now my nearest track and I’ve been itching to go. My plan is to loosen a stiff front suspension to reduce my 60’ times. I am targeting this spring…. There are a couple folks running A bodies there still. Another fish would be even better!

Unfortunately, I sold the 68 years ago ( actually traded for a Duster, then traded that a month later for a 67 Dart GT 440 tunnel ram race car- but that's another long story), and moved back in 16. Currently in southern Utah and visit the PNW every year. Do you get down to Woodburn dragstrip? I plan on going in August for the "Mopar Nats ".
Love the color and your Cuda.

I think we vacationed in the 4 corners a bunch of time when we lived in Texas! Beautiful part of the world. I used to live in the Hopi Reservation just over the border. Another long story….

I’ve been dozens of times down to Salem and Eugene but never with the car. I’ll have to google it and Mopar Nationals.

It's a really fun event. Definitely check it out.

What's your piston diameter? 2.75" I believe is what the B,E,C, FMJ cars used. Should be the same piston as any M body. If the pistons are 2.60" then it's a 73-76 A body caliper.
This is the post that helped me identify my calipers! Mine are the 2.75” single piston ones.

I pushed the piston in and got good flow back into the master so it seems that the valve was removed when the fronts were updated to disk brakes. I’ll try gasser’s test next. The soft lines look ancient. I’ll keep you posted.

New bushings and boots, and decided to splurge a bit on my brakes issues. Bigger lighter and newer (including soft lines) seems like the way to go at this point. Now if I can get the calipers that I actually ordered….stay tuned!

West End Thunder brought people from quite a ways to Forks, but half of the cars were built and driven by local timber industry folks that I worked with in those hills. I wasn’t very fast but we had a hell of a good time!

My notes suggest that I tried pretty hard to get that transmission project wrapped up to make the August event but missed the mark. I was beginning to fight a worsening power steering leak later that summer. After that was chemical site prep, salmon, and deer season. All got screwed up by a very active forest fire year….I managed a small fleet of company fire tankers and spent alot of time ferrying water to clearcuts in September and October 2011.
Liking these, most of all look at that reaction time bottom right , enjoying this thread and getting cought up some, hope to read on soon, but got to get! Wife is keeping me on call now that she has retired

Thanks for stopping by! I’ve learned a lot from your posts over the years. “What a long strange trip it’s been.”

looks like you have the flexi hose on the bleed nipple. it should connect to a threaded hole behind the round black sticker visible in the last pic. you may need an 1/8npt to flexi hose adapter to make it work.
neil.

yeah, good eye! I was just laying stuff out and making sure everything was going to fit! Odd thing these calipers, 4 bleeders on 'em. Im going to have to query a video or something for some clues as to how these actually go together. - if they require a crossover line, which way the adapter actually goes on my '73 knuckles etc etc etc.

if there's no visible crossover line then it's internal. the 4 bleed nipples are so one part can be used both sides. only the 2 nipples at the top when mounted are used for bleeding.
i've fitted several wilwood brake kits and made custom fits using their calipers so my advice is from experience. that and i worked at rally design (the uk wilwood agents) for 4 years so answered a lot of customer tech queries, lol.
neil.

Packing bearings for my 1976 Cordoba rotors in the living room.
IMG_2258.jpeg

Found a bolt in the garage to replace a missing one in one dust shield which ought to knock down that rattle up there! And popped on the rotors.

IMG_2260.jpeg

Odd final step; reshape the sippy cup used for setting the inner seal!

ORANGE

I mixed a heat resistant epoxy that was closer to red than my color so I bought a $7 tub of yellow pearl resin pigment. it mixed perfectly and laid down nicely pretty close to body color. You can barely see them behind my Cragers on top of those big rotors anyway. Should pop a little whilst rolling no? Need another coat or two

anyone else find the irony in the subdued tone of the neighbors Lambo? Actually I post this as a protest to them trimming up some of my trees last week. Now we can see each others crap. I don’t think they realized just how redneck ghetto we were up here. Their loss. I’m not going back to the factory RR-1 anytime soon. Midlife crisis and all….

Nice sunny weather all week but rather than getting everything tied down and to the alignment shop, i ran into a problem…..
IMG_2557.jpeg

Adjusting front end height I couldn’t tighten the pivot shafts. Upon further inspection I felt the LCAs were pretty sloppy too so….

IMG_2562.jpeg

Out one came… looks like poly bushings circa 2009 ??? They look ok but really loose. Some Bergman Auto Craft stuff is on the way! I’m currently ready to pop one of the lower ball joints but my wife is still sleeping… im taking a coffee break and checking in.

Off to drop off a first grader and then the parts store for a lower ball joint. Detroit Muscle Technology has torsion bar clips. They’re on the way too as one was missing. I also took some of the play out of the back of the LCAs

I’m super jealous of the folks in this forum that can get lots of work done in short order! Waited most of February on a calipers mixup and I’m DIY tax guy here and it ate March up. Both kids b-days going on now and we’re doing parties with their friends. & I just learned that halibut opens on the first of May this year and the boat ain’t nearly ready.

I guess this is what folks are referring to when they say “life happened” to their projects!

Those BAC pivots showed up yesterday. I’m figuring out which way to go with removing them outer shells.
IMG_2585.jpeg

I’m heading for a combination of the washer method with a piston to push against…stay tuned.
Off to birthday parties for now!
