Stop in for a cup of coffee

"Alex, why didn't you turn the rig when I honked the horn at you?" "Because you got too much boom out for that load and the steer tires were 4' off the ground! That's why I stopped!"

I went for a long walk this morning and was in my yard and found this. Never seen one before but a cool mushroom. Anybody have any idea what it's good for besides the garbage can?

The image shows a mushroom, likely belonging to the genus Amanita, which includes some of the most poisonous mushrooms in the world.

  • Potential Identification:
This mushroom strongly resembles Amanita virosa, commonly known as the European Destroying Angel, or potentially another white Amanita species like the Death Cap (Amanita phalloides).

  • Key Features:
White cap, gills, and stem, along with a ring on the stem and a cup-like volva at the base (though the volva is not clearly visible in this image) are characteristic of Amanita species.

  • Toxicity:
Species like Amanita virosa are highly toxic, containing α-amanitin, which can cause severe liver and kidney damage, often fatally.

  • Caution:
Due to the high risk of confusion with edible species and the severe toxicity of some Amanita mushrooms, it is crucial to avoid consuming any wild mushroom unless positively identified by an expert.

Thanks Dave....... :poke: :poke:

Former crane operator? That explains a lot  "Step back from the rig Alex. If those out-riggers get more than a foot off the ground, let me know." :wtf:
Ok that is literally true, I would always post a guy on my “lightfoot” hand him a radio and tell him, you see light under that pad key the mic NOW! Hah! O that’s so true it is hilarious!

When our daughter was born my mom worked for a doctors office. We rarely paid for baby formula. Doctors get more than drug samples. While I have the floor, my Jr may be moving back home from 3 Looper today. Pop comes home from the hospital and now must have someone by his side 24-7. Nobody can tolerate the TV volume or the reprocushions of taking it out. My brother thinks he and his new wife can take over. I feel bad for her. EDIT; c\_/ Whoot, there it is
Tv with wireless headphone setup.
A friend was hard of hearing, only way to stay married.

Ah, I get it! Fortunately (?) for me I don't have such fancy things as lifts, forks, and cranes, and thus I have to do things manually.

Then again, I am considering hanging an electric hoist from the roof trusses....

Glad to hear you're not seriously hurt, and thanks!
Spread the load over several trusses, did it often as a young man. Buddy doubled a couple trusses, above attic access was where he hung the chain.

When I was a kid and pulled engines in my dad’s garage I had a pipe run across two trusses and I hung a come along from that. Worked pretty good until I tried pulling an FE motor with a C6….Garage made some awfully scary noises, so dad had me run a 2x6 from the floor up to both trusses to take the added weight.

Funny thing: That pipe is still up on his garage attic!

Anyway, at this place I’m still considering my options, and I’m thinking of running a line down from the ridge and hanging a hoist from there. Naturally I’ll need to beef-up the attachment point at the ridge somehow…..
