Stop in for a cup of coffee

I got pretty good with WinME and Win98.. I used to reload the recovery discs on the opposite machine and run them...
I have Windows10 on my Surface Pro.... More importantly.... I have 3 or 4 young 20 sumpin guys, that hang out in my shop, to learn stuff. There is a trade off.......I never have computer problems that (I) must fix....LOL

Snow update. It's all white here and DUMPING snow. I was going to hit the exercise bike and plenty of other things to do. Ain't doing nuthin. Conserving my energy for snow clean up - both home and work. I like snow, but may not feel that way by tomorrow. LOL.
The way it started and supposed to go on more than a day..
This is gonna be ugly
. Local news is still running there 5-8 total map, but I'm thinking a foot plus is happening here. Will see what the local nowcast says at noon.

welcome to spring

We might even get an electrical storm here on the left coast today/tonight. Good Morning. I'm 3 days late with the Irish Crème in the coffee. :wtf: was I thinkin? Must check on World of Outlaws to see if any MORE of the nearby events have been cancelled or postponed due to the weather. Might just have to go to Phx and visit the rugrats and see the Outlaws before they head back east. Been rained out in Phx before also :(

Cold Nasty Rain here today...Supposed to turn to Snow later this evening.. They are saying 4-6 inches of the slippery stuff...

Funny you mention that - my older laptop with win98 finally got a bluescreen of death a couple years ago. I'm going to try recovery or fresh install.

I used the HP recovery disc back up program that came with new HP CD drives to back up basic loads on the original computers, then switch them to others as it didn't recognize what computer originally made the back up CD...

Something disturbing I read yesterday. One of Uber's self driving cars, the driverless edition, claimed the life of a pedestrian in Phx. That should open some eyes. My condolences to the unfortunate family. :soapbox:

im not a big fan of driverless cars. But I think we're going that route sooner rather than later.

I have to give the powers that be in Sacramento a little credit on that subject. They told Uber to "Get your experiment OUT of California". They get it right every now and again, not frequently enough though. Is driving with a computer glitch going to be the same as a DUI? What are the auto insurance companies going to do to us when driverless cars become more frequent?

It was in self drive mode, but there was someone behind the wheel. This will be interesting...

Can someone post that video of the Royal mounted police man giving a sobriety test to the blonde and car load of weed smokers

Very much so. Quite possibly one of those unavoidable incidents even with a qualified unimpaired driver. Pedestrians around here don't seem to realize .. The one with the most lug nutz wins.

Our inclement weather looks to be a few hours away still. Of course the Friday stop for the Outlaws is getting hammered with rain. Nice enough here to go on a motorcycle ride. Have a grand day y'all.

Its a fundamentally flawed idea. They're in shared space - a person needs to be in charge, at minimum cabale of taking full control instantly. The whole point of driverless is the need not to pay attention. These are mutually incompatible requirements. We generally don't allow dogs to roam free in public spaces anymore, and they're a hell of a lot smarter and less lethal than an automobile. An automobile is a highly dangerous machine - as a society we seem to forget that. Familiarity breeds contempt?

Snows starting coat things. I'm going to see if the dog is ready to come in yet. 50/50 odds on that.

That bad huh?
Nothing really on the roads and walks yet here, but DDaddy is further West and deeper in the heaviest snow band.

Also some places around here are only half equiped, and few drivers have real snow tires. Best to get the kiddies home and for places like Philadelphia, start putting on the plows. Get further north and into the hills and all the plows stay on all winter. Here the trash trucks double as plow trucks...
