Just doing what I do
When you see the actual place and experience the terrain they fought on, and feel the blood they spilled under your feet...it will become real in ways you can’t imagine.I've read so much and studied that battle I feel like I was there sometimes. I hadn't thought of it in years. I'll have to freshen up before I go. A buddy is friends with one of the Parks Ranger command staff and thinks we can get a private tour.
It is a chilling and inspiring place...brother against brother, fighting for what they most believed.
It was a turning point in history that those that lived and died there for never knew was occurring.
Their lives would become more than the battle they fought...it was destined to become a piece of World history that people would study for centuries.
Far more people know the names and history of the soldiers there now than did during their lifetime.
