Sucks he had to go Pro Mod to keep up with Kie Kelly… so now it will be Pro Mod vs Pro Mod. Can’t claim fastest street car anymore.. maybe fastest Pro Mod ran on the street.
• Rick

lets face reality here, every one of those cars are trailered there. I could be wrong, but Farm Truck is the only one I’ve seen actually driving/fishing down the streets •
Affleck67

That is total truth, all of them are trailer queens but Dung Beetle and Farm Truck

I absolutely Agree that it is going to destroy the entire reason and theme of the show when they are allowing PROMODS on a show called Street Outlaws. How can you be the fastest street cars when you don’t even use a REAL car!! • John Songer

My local track had a DoorSlammer Night before it closed for remodel. Some of the fastest around, UNTIL ProMods began coming and even ProStocks. Now they are lucky if 16 people show up.• Nancy Louisos

They are funny cars with a few street features. The fastest real street cars were the last round of cars at Hot Rod Drag week, ie…Larry Larson’s Nova and Lutz original 57 chevy.
JeffH

Pro mods are as close to street cars as funny cars, not close. • JeffH

Fact of the matter is, FarmTruck & Azn are the only street legal guys. Thats why they claim “FASTEST STREET RACE CARS IN NATION” not “FASTEST STREET LEGAL RACE CARS IN NATION”. • Nancy Louisos

You have some facts mixed up my friend. it’s using extended wheel base carbon fiber bodied full track cars and then Saying they have the fastest STREET cars in the nation. Outlaw 10.5 cars are based off real cars that are modified and that IS a street car.

I'm a little surprised this thread has gotten so much traction :burnout:... couldn't resist... read the thread (mostly) LOTS of blurred lines.. leave it to reality TV to try to take the fun out of our hobby and get all serious - people fighting because "he said" some BS on the internet- - I just can't take the show seriously - fun to watch, that's it. JMHO

I like the show and will continue to watch it , what gear head wouldn't ? But I wish they would do a show with "real" street cars almost like this show started like . Personally I think what happened is all these track guy's wanted there 15 min's of fame and thought they could run there track cars on the street and kick butt . Then it just took off in the direction it did . Just my two cents .

Had another teenager kill somebody locally street racing. t-boned an elderly couple at over 100 MPH. If you want to race, go to the track. You can run all night for $20.
Never on the street please!

they are not street racing. there is no line painted down the center. there are lights setup. they park trucks and trailers for hours. a crowd hangs out for hours. they are at rented airport roads and industrial parks, and I watch every week - nitrous blows

I didn't realize that these guys only race 1/8 mile until I watched the last episode of the season. I lost respect for them. 1/8 mile is pointless in my opinion.

In the south you race 1/8 mile or you don't race. I have never raced a 1/4 but maybe on the street years ago. They say bracket racing is easier in the 1/4 , more time to decide what to do at finish line.

Most of the tracks around here make their money off of Friday night street car test n tune types, not racers. These guys (and gals) typically bring a lot more paying spectators with them to watch them prove that they don't know what they're doing, and that makes money for the track. Unfortunately, street cars have become so powerful that it has resulted in so many fatal wrecks that the tracks had to limit to 1/8th mile to slow the street guys down or pay insurance rates that would put them out of business. I'm surprised that this trend hasn't hit nationwide yet.

why's that, does it take a 1/4 to get your car going. lol
I think all the fun is in the 1st 60' and the 1/8. jmo
most of my old street races took place in a city block, light to light. late night cruising.
true spur of the moment street race.

I agree. there is more traffic and pedestrians roaming the streets.
cars are faster and people are dumber.

Guess I'll never race in the south, then. Actually, drag racing doesn't have a lot of appeal to me anymore. Corners are more fun.

Top end pull is where you feel the HP.

Top end pull is where you feel the HP.

guess you never been in a turbo car cuz pull happens immediately. 660ft dont break stuff but the next 661-1320ft breaks a bunch of stuff and not needed. race is over by 660ft.

i dont watch either.

Turbos..hairdryers are for girls..

don't like 1/8 mi. racing, big motors pull hard on the top end. you really can`t gear a street car to perform like it should, "I want'' it to in the 1/8. ever run a 4:56-4'88: -5:13 - or a 5:38 in a car you drive a lot? guess you can if you got deep enough pockets to afford overdrives ! nuff said.

Alot of this is 1/8 mile because of speed as well. The guys on this show are 175 plus in the 1/8 mile. Do you really want stock bodied cars with a wing on the rear end back dooring over 200 mph?

Hi, I got into American cars in 1977 with my first car, a 1968 Dodge Charger 318 auto, thought that was real fast, lasted 6mnths, I swapped it with some guy for a 1965 K code Muzzy, thats where it really all started, cruising the meets, and Street Racing, but I thought it was a bit dangerous tbh, I was 27yrs old then, and when I nearly didn’t stop at a set of lights one day, that was it and Santa Pod Raceway became a reality in 1981 with my first quick car for then, a 1971 340 Cuda. That all lasted till 1990 when I retired. Then life/kids happened and I only recently got back into Racing in 2012 as a spectator.
After attending several meets at the Pod, I gotta say that apart from getting to know a few people, some old racers it was good fun talking over old times etc., but watching the racing we have over here was totally boring, apart from Pro-Mod, TF FC and the other Heads Up classes of which there isn’t much of. Bracket/index is an absolute bore (my opinion only), cars that can run 8’s on stops running S/G and the brackets where you got the faster car leaving 2 seconds after the other etc., and the car that puts the win light on losing, I wonder what the spectators think of that, that ain’t Drag Racing in my book anymore, its not how it all started out is it?...its heads up, first to cut the beams is what it was all about. Anyhow the whole point of my rather long post(sorry) is that I got into the street outlaws, being a doorslammer guy, and I gotta say, its exciting, its pure race cars racing on the street in a quiet place, dangerous, yes, but they ALL know the risks, look at the Chiefs reaction to the crash, there’s no public about you can mow down, no other cars involved but the racers. These guys know their s*it, getting 1500+hp down onto that surface takes some doing, and yes why not make money at it, it used to be pink slips...I remember once winning a special one off heads up competition we had at the Pod, taking a massive £250, that was exciting, so I took all the racers down the pub on my winnings, what a crack. So I’ve come full circle, back to my roots where it all started I guess.
Anyhow, like it or not, 1/8 or a ¼, its where it at for me whatever your own opinions on it, we are not all the same, its gotta be better than watching brackets/index racing. Its a shame that pro-mod type cars are creeping into the scene as people cannot relate to them so much, but there are still plenty of cars left for now that they can, so enjoy it while it lasts.

I see the Chief finally lost to Murder Nova last week, but thats old news to you guys........

Around where I live, kids are arranging late night street races which are attracting crowds who find out about time/location via social media. More spectators are getting killed at the big end of these illegal races than drivers when one or both of the cars plows into the crowd. I'm for letting these kids know that legal racing is available to them for $20, and their friends can go watch for $10. Shows like Street Outlaws encourage the younger ones to get out there and race, and I guess at my age I'd rather see the kids racing in a safer environment.
