Well it finally happened. I got my first ticket today. Speeding 70 in a 55. My first moving violation ticket in 51 years. Have had muffler tickets back in the day but never any other. I can't be pissed because I've done some incredibly stupid things in a car and somehow avoided a ticket or death. The thing is I left my daughters house after getting the ticket and driving home I didn't want another in the same day so I drove very close to the speed limit and it felt like I was c r a w l i n g. This sucks, I drive over the limit everywhere I go. I don't know how long this fear will last but it better not be long!

I can insure you it won't last very long. This is speaking from personal experience.:steering::steering:

I keep my old Jeep wrangler around, just to slow me down.
When I know I have been pushing it for a few days, I drive the old jeep, its too slow so it gives me a reality check, instead of a ticket.

Up to 9 over is usually safe, depending on the cops mood. Lots of times they will write you a non point ticket. Voice of experience.

Around here, on streets or highways, anything +5 was pushing it. I once got a ticket for 61 in a 55 back around '75 or so. I was PISSED!!! We had been stuck behind an oil spewing old Datsun pickup doing about 40 (in the 55) for miles and miles. Some would not pass when they had the chance, and there were few of those.

I bet +9 or 10 is till pushing it around here even at 65-70 limits. I BELIEVE that +20 is "automatic reckless" here

Do not tangle with an Idaho state bull, I learned that on I 90 near Post Falls in 1978 when I was a teen.
My mouth got me the ticket, he told me so. lol Since that time, my yes Sir, no Sir, has kept me ticket free.
even works with the local cops. lol Yep at the age of 56 I've only received one ticket. and escaped many.

get a traffic lawyer. get that knocked down to a no pointer. well worth the money

got a ticket in lake george for going 85 in a 55. got it knocked down to a 175 dollar parking ticket.. it was like 300-400 for the lawyer and i didn't have to appear.. :)

F it, just go to traffic school and it'll be off your record. Now getting caught alone in a 2+ passenger HOV/carpool lane sucks ***. $481 ticket....but I used that lane about 600 times before I got my first and last ticket for that drive :icon_fU: almost worth it as it saved me 15 minutes a day flying past a daily traffic jam due to a poorly designed freeway interchange. Who puts a high volume freeway connector with a 2 lane fly off 1/8 mile past a blind turn? people make the turn and realize they are not in the right lane so they just stop and try and merge into the 1 mile backup, only to be sitting ducks for anyone coming around the turn at 65 and not expecting a stationary car sitting in their lane!!

Red is daily backed up traffic, green is where the lane gets devided. Blue are the cars stopped to sneak into the offramp traffic. These cars dont get hit, its the drivers that swerve to miss them and hit the others that cause the 3X a week accident here.

I got my new (to me) Audi A6 with a 3.0 supercharged motor and 2 days later I had a ticket going 22 mph over the speed limit. Felt like I was just cruising along at normal speeds but no, 22 over. 6 points and if I get another 6 it's drivers school to get the points knocked down. Oops!

ALL of out entrance and exit ramps are about 1/8 mi. , or less !!

the fact that the lane devides after the blind turn is ludicrous. They should run those small lane divider stakes well before the blind turn so you cant get over after you make the turn, then people would not stop. This freeway use to be 2 lanes in each direction....then they spent 15 years widening it and we got this.

Last ticket was a few days ago. Offices says, So I got you on fleer radar going 88 MPH. Why were you driving 88 MPH? I said, "I was trying to get back to the future". Did not get out of the ticket...

I got a speeding ticket a couple years ago doing 75 in a 45. with 3.91's id run her through 2nd and let off in 3rd. I thought the speed limit changed to 55 but I was wrong.
Now I've got 3.23's. the top of 2nd is probably a jail visit (100mph+).
