Just my opinion Martin, but time travel 40 years ahead, and I dont think there will be the "want" for the new cars like there is for the ones you have now! Oh does the wife drive the old mopars you have now?? If not that explains why the trade-in...no offense, but new cool doesnt compare to old school cool!

I love the new Chally, but our classic Mopars are our hobby, passion, part of our culture. New cars are expensive for what they are and ,most of them, although a nessasity, are like belly buttons. I have a hemi Magnum R/T as a DD and ya it's fun, fast hauls my stuff around.but......I prefer driving my 65 , just a different vibe you can't feel with a new car. I would rather have your six pack car then 5 new ones.

Get the Challenger and let your wife show it, and you can still show your classic. That way you can have the best of both worlds.

I didn't vote.I would buy a new chaly but not the STR8 I have a friend that bought one and after he took it in for a check up they were joking with him how much it was going to cost him for a brake job (3,500) if it didn't need rotors.WOW...I would get the next step down and put all the goodies on it..but that's me.other than that go for the new one...........Artie

On Feb.1st I went to look at a new Challenger RT My wife was drawn to a Charger RT model Mopar 11. I had the choice between the 2 and picked the Charger for her. I'm glad I did cause I have an old Duster 340 and a Ram 1500 to play with. and the Charger is a blast to drive and handles great with all the creature comforts.

Those new challys can be made to really scoot but you have to put a blower on @9 PSI, head work, cam, headers. I like the looks but they are heavy and expensive.

Can't a man have more than one toy? Just get a bigger garage.

Buy the yellow jacket and take it to CLASSIC car shows like everyone else does.

Nobody will even notice the difference.....except for the guys with new Corvettes. LOL.

On a serious note, that yellow jacket is bad ***....buy it.

I should have your problems. I have a practical side to me , its called my wife. If your setting on two oldies and she wants a new Challenger, maybe get rid of your least favorite old one but I wouldn't dump both . I think you would kick yourself later. Or you can keep the Challenger for the next 40 years. How old would you be?

Martin, Quit being so dam picky and get the fast back that you have always wanted!!l lol.. Or pick a chally out at the dealership.. that way you will have the same car as all the other's!! lol..

wait a year and buy the same car for 60 cents on the dollar , I just looked at a 2010 rt chally , same yellow paint scheme as the one you showed 5.7, 6speed "used " with 7,560 km for 36k from the dealership with balance of factory warranty on it , same car was almost 50k new a year and a half ago .

PS it's at ensign Chrysler here in Victoria if you want it

Hmm.. As much as I like the new Challys, I'd go old school myself. I can't see the value in having one brandy-new.. Maybe a couple of years old when the savings will have paid for a nice old cuda.

I have the Challenger RT 6spd Super track pack and a 1968 Formula S with a 416.

I think having both is nice. I leased the Challenger RT because I knew I wouldn't be putting a bunch of miles and was also worried gas would go up causing the car to lose value. Payments are not bad at all and the Challenger is very fun to drive. So is the Barracuda but in a different way. The Barracuda is much more fun for short trips but me, my wife and son took the Challenger 1200 miles on a weekend to Ottawa and back and it was comfortable, low stress and fun. Get both if you can.

There aren't that many Challengers around here so it is still kind of special on the road and gets quite a bit of attention.

Zigs, I'll be fertilizer by the time it became any added value.

I went back to p/u the Caravan today, looked at the Yellow Jacket again, light snow roads so no test drive and I thought to myself. it really doesn't do anything for me. Nice, but I don't think so. This may change after a dry day and a test drive,,,,,,, but for now,,,,

Wife is pushing a little harder, lol. I told her to buy it for herself and drive it. She said no she doesn't want to drive it, so I guess she's looking for a chauffeur that can drive one of these as they should be driven.

Any volunteers?
:burnout:

Just going to go down in value as it gets older.

You say you got 2 old muscle cars--that should be enough.

I would save the cash and go on trips or buy a entertainment center for the home.

I hear rumors gas is going to $5 a gallon this spring--that is in the US, over in Canada it was $1.23 a liter, 3.7 liters for a us gallon means you are paying $4.55 right now, about $1 more a gallon then the US.

Plus people drive like crap now of days. Driving isn't so much fun anymore. Its OK but was cooler when you ran the yellow and seen 2 other cars behind you go cutting pass and pushing ahead. Today its hit the brakes the second light turns yellow and chat on your cell phone and limp away from the light once it turns green a minute later.

I'm going to ready try to cut back spending on this hobby, god only knows how much I spent. The gas station was like a 2nd home to me in the past, ha ha

Yeah I know, one good blast with another hot ride and I be hook again. These punks and their fast motorbikes are really cool, they didn't have as many fast bikes as they have today 20 years ago.

Still traveling can be much fun. So many places to go and see. Some dude is going to walk the tightrope over Niagara Falls this summer, I gotta be there to see it first hand. Discovery channel is going to show it live but you know if he slips they go right off the air, lol

Jeez! and I thought I was getting old!
New cars have no soul. The 68 is the way to go or you can go shopping for cemetary plots with Mr. Sunshine.

Just kidding, dodge freak.

If it wasn't for my wife loving old mopars so much I sell them all an buy a late model Viper ACR

I drove a chally RT stick car. Like I said above, we are into old cars for a reason. The Challanger I drove was not an SRT but it was still pretty impressive, BUT, it didn't have the seat of your pants grunt we love, plus it's plastic. My 06 Maggie RT is all the new car I need. I treat it like a pick up.

The challenger is heavy. Looks heavy, drives heavy. the worst thing about owning one (other than the depreciation schedule) would be the fact that every guy with a new mustang and camaro is going to want to race, and they're both faster.

Also, what the hell is up with Dodge putting REALLY tall skinny tires on the Chally?

I've had newer cars and the older stuff is just more fun. Part of the hobby is tinkering. There really isn't any tinkering with the new stuff unless you've still got a lot of change in your wallet after shelling out 60K for the new thing. Old car is like a time machine. Hop in it and you can fool yourself into thinking its 40 years ago (until you buy gas or get T-boned by a lady in a minivan on her cell phone).

I hear they're talking about discontinuing the Chally in a year or two and coming out with something sized more like the camaro/mustang and calling it a barracuda....
