I got my exhaust manifolds painted and curing yesterday. I am making a start to finish thread for this but the paint is on! IMG_0340.JPG I ordered the VHT in silver with silica (ceramic) and took my time. It's good for 2000 degrees so I am hopeful. IMG_0341.JPG

Its going to be awhile before paint. This was my first attempt at anything major. I've seen all the rebuild shows right ? now go out and do it ! Dosen't work that way but glad it came out as well as it did.

For got your just North of me. I used the high temp from Eastwood , baked them in an old oven at 350 degrees for an hour as per directions, let set for a couple of days to cure , installed them started engine and let run …..with in 15 minutes paint was all peeled off. Good luck.

Like most of the car, this is the second time of trying to get something right. The first time I detailed them out and talked to a local powdercoater who assured me that his job would take the temperature. I had him do them and they were beautiful. Installed ready for first time run for cam break-in and within 15 minutes I had 2" flakes of powdercoat flying all around my shop. By the time I put the car on the road they were back to cast with rust. I couldn't take it and had to rip them off during my winter car projects and after washing, bead blasting and proper prep I followed the directions on the can and painted them. I hope to have them back on the car by Sunday night then I can post up the start to finish thread I am preparing.

Hope it works. Nothing worse then someone saying their product works , then fails. I ended up wrapping with heat wrap about half way down each tube so to protect plug wires and help with heat.

Painted my extractors with VHT same as what you used back in 2011 and it's still holding up, i cured mine with the flame of a torch as i didn't have any other way of doing it.

Looks good. Maybe oven didn't get an even heat or not hot enough.

Not sure on different colors but the cast blast paint on my manifolds is holding up great! I re brushed a coat on them a year or so ago to freshen them up but no flaking

Nothing like a fresh wax job to bring in the new year, first time trying chemical guys products, since my go to wax liquid glass is no longer made due to the voc laws in CA i picked up a bottle of the chemical guys jet seal and was curious how it would do. I did my moms 2011 mustang and was impressed. Decided to do the demon as well, very happy with the results. Surface is slick as hell! Has anyone else used much of the chemical guys products?

                  Gasket matching the RPM Airgap.
                  Edit:
Using a dremel at 10,000 rpm with a two flute router bit. Aluminum really gums up the grinding stones something fierce.

Thinking about working on it, just so much other stuff getting in the way. Now that the holidays are over maybe I can get my A500 swap finished.

Who would think that it would be 52° and dry in central Indiana on Jan 2?!?!
Got it out and went on a 15 mile drive this afternoon. I never drive it when its wet out, or below 45°(no heater hoses). My poor arm is still wishing for an automatic, but I'm not complaining. The 4 speed helps cure the winter blues!

These came in the mail today, they will get mounted in my console, and will be wired up to control overdrive and lockup. They are lighted switches so should look cool when lit up.

One quarter of the way done, spent about 45 minutes per runner. Once I finish up each side, I'll double check the cleaning up I did and see if I need or want to do any more. I tried leaving a little extra meat there, since you can't put it back on... I was getting impatient and cranked the dremel to 15,000 rpm. It looks a bit rough, I'll come back and clean it up with a stone when I get them all done. I'll do my 308 heads in a few weeks.

Went in early to work today to get some more work done on the manifold.
I'm getting a little bit faster and it is taking about thirty minutes per runner.
Half way done with the rough cutting.

Done with the RPM Airgap for the 360 build. It is kinda hard to see in the pictures, but the runners are pretty smooth now as far as I could reach. I cleaned it up with 80 grit tootsie rolls, then a wire brush. There were some ugly casting boogers that I got rid of in the plenum, as well as in the water passage up front.

Next up for this is the gasket matching the 308 heads. I'll pull them out of the shed and bring them in to work on after work next week. At least that grinding will be a LOT easier, I'll just use a stone. I hate how aluminum likes to gum up stones and tootsie rolls.

I also have a smaller set of 273/318 intake manifold gaskets floating around here somewhere to match my Offy 2x4 manifold and the 302 heads, which I'll probably do some time this spring. I may not even use those heads for a while, and they'll probably just go on a teener for my son when he starts driving in nine years. I suspect that I'm gonna use that 2x4 on the 318 to 392 WEDGE project. If I do that, I suspect that I may want to add some meat to the outside of the runners so I can enlarge the insides of the runners. JB Weld or TIG?
