What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

-
Finished putting the lat coat of satin black on the heater motor, and managed to pull some more caster out of the Challenger with the Borgeson steering conversion.
Got 4 degrees out of the right and 3.8 out of left, car drives so nice, and has a modern feel about it.
Had to take it on a 30 mile drive, and the exhaust was near Snow White with a Sixpack your kidding.

Looks good! Are you prepping for paint?
Not yet, I'm going to weld up the firewall to convert to non A/c.

Who has a non a/c heater box for sale??

I also dropped these k frame out to switch it to a V8 k frame and while I'm here, I'm converting to manual steering.

Can anyone guess my engine bay paint scheme?

This is a dip process that can be done on aluminum... I can see some serious time in my future polishing an intake manifold.

To hell with Hemi Orange, 318 Blue, 340 Red, 383 Turquoise or any other stock colors!

I cannot find my M/T valve covers I got from @badsport (good guy alert), they will probably be red with the horizontal fins being white.

The block will be white to make it easier to find any leaks.

Ack! Look at what I just found. Gotta get rid of those casting edges in there.

After getting chewed on by a pack of angry mosquitos, this is what I got for the timing chain cover.

Made a template for the scoop holes off of measurements taken from a original scoop hood, I will now locate the center of the holes in the under hood bracing and dot punch for drilling, line up the template on top and drill holes to correct size.

I read a post where someone was using wd 40 to do this i didnt use it on the rear but have been in the front WOW what a difference. I also bought an HF special pneumatic scraper wow this thing has done the whole car and its still going !

Today I changed the oil and filter, touching up the exhaust manifold paint then a sudsy bath and vacuuming. Drove 150 miles yesterday and all the winter work paid off. The car runs and drives the way it is supposed to.

Starting the other head. Updates as the day progresses.

Got the blue done. I figure thirteen stars on the air cleaner cover.

My newly built 5.9 hit 50 miles today so I changed the oil and filter. And, like @DesertRat I cleaned inside and out. Even freshened up the white walls!!!

Then I wrapped the exhaust near the electric fuel pump. It's a little too close for my liking, but I'm going to try it and see how it goes. Hopefully it won't overheat.

I'm really liking how the 5.9 is running. Quite a difference from the 273 Commando!!

Now I'm going for a ride. Need to get some dog food for our pack, they are looking at me!!!

Just unboxed my QA1 upper and lower control arms, QA1 adjustable strut rods, 1.03 PST torsion bars, 11/16 tie rods and adjusters. KYB shocks and Moog lower ball joints for my 64 Dart Wagon...should ride and turn a touch better

Repainting my wheels before putting on my new BFG tires. I found the original date codes on them too. M5 6 with a 1 under the (M5)!

Currently has her skirt lifted after a gnarly transmission leak started up...

Turns out the front seal failed, which made the pump gear fail, which made the pump fail.

Really wish I had the time to do this myself but currently slammed with work...

Gotta love paying hourly labor rates!

On the upside, it was nice to get under it and check on the suspension to confirm all was holding up well.

Drove to work today! 33 miles one way. Now up to 120 miles on the 5.9 swap. So far it's running great.

Got a couple of pictures in front of the steam plant.

I ordered Billstein shocks from PST this week for all 4 corners. And a new set of BF Goodrich Radial T/A's from the Tire Rack which will be installed this weekend. I also removed the generic universal radiator hoses from the car and bought new factory style ones from NAPA. Time to get her ready for the summer even if there's no car shows to attend. I'll post pictures when completed.

Just messing around with an old dual snorkel air cleaner that I had. Someone had taken the snorkels off (we wont say who). Anyway I've been running it without the snorkels. A while back a made my own snorkels to replace the factory type ones that I really didnt like that much. I also wanted them closer together, pointing a little more forward instead of to the sides.
Got it tacked together and set it on the engine for pics. I like it, its not finished or anything. I'm thinking I might flare the outer end of the snorkels, but thats just more work.
What do you think ?
Like it?
Hate it?
