What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

Spent a bit of the day yesterday with the grinder stripping the '65. In it's past it had a couple owners or shops that never invested in body-working hammers and dollies and welders, but definitely had the pop-rivet tool and bondo spreaders... 1/4" of filler over the entire quarter panel, covering about 10 dents in various areas, and a 20" pop-riveted "patch" by the trunk extension. I swear since I started stripping to bare steel the car the back end has risen about 1/2". Anyway - work continues!

Amazing what you can find under a paint job. Sounds to me that you will fix it right.

What are you doing to/with your car CLUB today?

Several members of the Twisted Axle Car Club got together tonight to help out the Friends of Foster Kids wrap Christmas presents.

Hopefully we'll make a few kids happy on Christmas Day!

Replaced the clutch m/c today; still had the original Keisler unit. SST sells a Wilwood branded cylinder. Nice that all the mounting holes and brackets are the same as the Keisler.

Ooh, Does Cheron operate a ferry across the river Styx when she's not volunteering?

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Interesting spelling.

Hoping Mother Nature cooperates with air temps.

My office for the day (negative pressure and filtered) and my tool of choice. Laying down some gray SPI epoxy as soon as my coalescing filter shows up from amazon.

Color tomorrow. Wooot

First coat laid down nice. F this space is tight to move around in. One more coat should do it.

Looks good, but...
O.K. dumb question time: why did you paint the wiper and heater motors? Everything else taken off. ???

Didn’t really want to remove the dash, replace all the seals and do all that extra stuff at this time. I’ll mask off the wiper motor and heater motor and paint them. Oh and they needed to be primed anyways.

When the time comes the entire car will get stripped and then I’ll replace all the seals, etc.

Warm in Indy today(50). Thought I'd go for a drive. Warmed it up, got out and looked at it, got back in and shut it off. Winter depression is setting in...only cure is many beers. Pretty bad when I'd rather drink beer than go for a drive.

Finally got my new three car garage cleaned out enough to actually move the cuda forward into the third spot. I needed the space. Bought a new winter beater I have to work on over the holidays. Seems strange walking out the door and seeing the car gone. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic.

Nothing wrong keeping it clean and salt free..

Taking a new direction with the '65. Using parts I've had for a while for it. Requires some fitting so I'm in trial assembling now.

Drove it. A lot. Put 100+ miles on it today. Needs an alignment again but I’m not gonna mess with it since I’m going to pick up an HDK suspension tomorrow.

I just got back from a drive....beautiful weather here....!

Was like 33 out when I went for my ride. Kind of a short ride, about 20 minutes. I’m still amazed at the way the dart handles since the suspension upgrades I’ve done. There’s a twisty windy road near me that’s a 25mph road. I was doing it at almost twice that and the car just felt like it was glued to the road

Ordered my Speedhut gauges last week, so deciding on the gauge panel I am going with. Leaning towards the Classic Dash piece, and made mockups of the 3 finishes available - Carbon Fibre, Brushed Aluminum and Black with different ideas for the gauge placements. So far I am liking the C/F finish, may add some C/F to the Heater control bezel to match.

Anytime I need to 'print' on cardboard or metal etc., I print onto full sheet labels with a CAD program and peel and stick. Takes a lot of guesswork out of stuff like this. Tail is waggin over this latest blast of the money hose!
