Throwing more paint down on the Demon

A couple of car clubs came together today to visit the residents of a MediLodge in Sterling Heights, MI. There were lots of smiles, not only on the resident's faces but also on the faces of the wonderful employees too (and all the guys & gals that participated). Quite an eclectic group of "car family"!

I like them all - even the Vega (great color). But that black 64 Dart convertible - ooh la la!

Trying to figure out the white dart
Looks like a 67 with 68 taillights with 69 gt trim .without a trunk panel ....

I do like 67/68 firebird
Not sure what's next to the 64 dart
65 dodge ?...might be a 62 Chevy at the end

Battling a cooling problem but I think I got it! Runs around at 185 in town now and cools down to the low side of 180 on the highway. 421 stroker small block, 22° initial, 32° total, vacuum advance connected to manifold vacuum, Cold Case 26" rad w. Dual 12" electric fans and no thermostat. Just for ***** & Giggles i am going to compare it to a gutted thermostat housing and a 180° thermostat. Maybe a 160° thermostat as well!

It's a '69 Dart GT 340, auto., with A/C and a green interior! Danny has owned it since 1984 if I remember correctly.

A couple, from our car club, hosted their annual TACC Car B Que at their house yesterday. All told I'm guessing there was ~50 cars in attendance. As the afternoon slipped away Mike (our host) decided it was time for the "smoke 'em if you got 'em" portion of the event. The winner was chosen by the attendees cheers.

Enjoy the videos!

I'm still grappling with the quarter window refurbish. There are two 5/16 bolts that hold the window glass to the aluminum frame. Of course, the dissimilar metals in a 57 year old car means that the bolts were seized and broke off with the first attempt to remove them.

I was afraid of breaking the aluminum arm if i hammered too much trying to center punch the bolt stub to drill and use an easeout. I don't have a drill press, so i made a jig to hold my hand drill in the center of the stub.

Once I got it drilled all the way through, I put in a threaded insert. It didn't come out exactly centered, but it is close enough.

There was originally a rubber bushing that goes between the hole in the glass and the 5/16 bolt. I found some plastic hose at the hardware store that is just slightly smaller in OD, so I wrapped electrical tape around it to enlarge the OD to fit more snug in the hole in the glass. I used a razor blade to cut two inserts for the glass.

Ace hardware also had neoprene washers to replace the old ones where the bolt/washer combination contacts the glass.

Hopefully using the threaded insert will eliminate the dissimilar metals issue for any future glass replacement.
