never thought a 67 dodge clutch was going to be hard to find

I'm working on rebuilding the steering column on my '68 Dart. I have a boat load of parts on the way while I finish the teardown. One thing that's giving me trouble is the pins at the end of the shaft that hold the shoes that slide into the coupler.

I think that these are 2 seperate pins that go in from each side as opposed to a single pin that goes all the way through. If it was a single pin, I would think I could tap it through from one side and remove it. I need to get them out in order to remove the old coupler cap and install a new one. I don't know how to grab those pins and take them out without risking boogering them up.

Any suggestions???

It's ONE pin... and you want to use your original as the rebuild kit pins are junk steel!

It's a straight press fit pin.. no taper!

A press would make it easier, but you could probably do it with a good vise. Need a socket or something on one end to give the pin room to escape. Once you get the other side flush with the column, then some sort of hardened pin smaller than what you're trying to remove will be necessary to press it the rest of the way out. Or you might be able to use a brass drift. Whatever you do, don't bugger the end of the pin or you'll ruin it.

I believe the rubber boot will stretch over the pin without removing it. Just do one side at a time.

I'm not familiar with a 68, but won't the coupler seal come off and go on from the other end of the shaft with everything disassembled?

Added a ATI vent/overflow-tank to my ATI Turbo, in Krusty. Really nice piece, and easy install. It mounts on the trans-pan front bolts.
I'm always impressed by the people and products at ATI.

During the 2025 North Gratiot Cruise, held this past Saturday, I spent a few hours at the cruise headquarters, then went to hang out with Ken (aka @72Dart6pack), then ended up at a club member's huge annual cruise party.

I usually don’t put on a display of power/speed when I leave an event, but I saw a Willys, a Camaro and a few others making a "quick exit" from Ed and Diane’s party, so I thought I’d give it a shot!

Furthering my rebuild of the steering column in my '68 Dart. Cleaning up the steering tube (the collapsable segment), and I came across this stamp with the number "50" in the lower portion of the tube. I'm just curious if anyone knows what that designates.

Also, I noticed a distinct bend in that tube. Is that good, bad or doesn't matter?

Where else would you expect to see a Dart? Yup, nearly a bullseye at the Target

Then off to the Township Offices

Then it was time for a nap! Just kidding about the nap, I had to stop and fill the tank. Don't know how long it'll be before the snow flies.

I've been doing some stuff on my block, some drilling and tapping, finishing up making tunnel ram great again, making a valley plate, hard block, fixing my f up on that since I overfilled the passenger side.

After a few weeks of aggrevation, I finally finished putting the rebuilt heads and getting everything back together on my 2000 Ram1500 van. After sorting thru some issues with the NSS or shift cable trying to get it running, it seems to have been a successful operation as I have been driving it around all afternoon. Time will tell...
