What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

Added a cheap little fuel gauge in the trunk of the avatar. Once the fuel level goes below the level of the foam in the 12 gallon fuel cell, I get nervous as to how much fuel is left. So a little gauge it is!

I mounted it to the side of the rear trunk latch "stanchion" and ran power through a switch so it's only reading fuel level when I go to check it. Didn't put it on the dash as I don't have any spare openings for a gauge right now. Works great!!

Today was a monthly car cruise/get together but at a new venue. Beautiful warm day with friends, food trucks, and sunshine. And on the way home, stopped for dinner with my wife. Doesn't everyone take their street/strip car to dinner?

It was about 60 degrees in the early morning. It's already 70 degrees this morning. We have had a really mild fall so far.

Installed my new 17" spare tire. It is a 135/90R17. Fits like a glove! I have a 1 inch adapter to go from SBP to LBP. The adapter fits under the foot for the bumper jack. The trunk floor is now flat across!

Finished the lower control arms in my 67 Barracuda. New shafts and Delrin bushings from Bergman. I decided that I might as well try their adjustable strut rods, too, so I ordered a pair. Should be here Tuesday.

And no, I'm not a skilled welder, and would have got a professional to weld the reinforcements if I had thought they were critical. But they have had no reinforcements at all for the forty years I've owned the car, and did OK. So even with my crappy welding job, the arms should be stronger than they were.

That is serious stuff. I've never had the nerve to go that far.
Me either - first time for everything I guess. My 1st car, bought it in 1978. Only has 49k miles on it now and it's too nice not to have good exterior sheetmetal as underneath it is all good. LONG way to go but 1 foot in front of the other, 1 step at a time. Figuring at least a 2 year project as I don't work on it every day. We shall see!

Well I'm slowly making progress on my much more modest goals. Engine compartment is coming back together. New cam is in, but I'm leaving the intake, lifters, pushrods etc off until I get the car (67 Barracuda) back on the ground. Too long a reach down there at this point. Today, I got the reinforced lower control arms with Bergman shafts and Delrin bushings and his adjustable strut rods on. Still have to adjust the length, install my new .940 torsion bars, brakes, center link and tie rods etc., etc.

I've been doing a little cleaning and painting as I go along.
