Cleared off the old plactic dip, and prepped for paint yesterday. Now wanting for this afternoon to paint them gloss black.

My son in law came over to help and brought Hot Tramp. I passed the car down to him and it was nice to see them both.

Spent a beautiful few hours with friends at a show. Perfect sunshine, a little breeze, 82 degrees...my kind of day!

Friend's 67 GTX and another's 69 Coronet R/T flanking my Demon. Their cars are both 440's and the R/T sports twin 4bbl's. Pic at bottom.

Krusty is dead. Long live Krusty! This will officially end my 50 years of drag racing. I'm not mad, sad, or anything. It's almost a weird relief...
 

I'll probably not be on the car sites much, again. My gen-III stuff is what I'll be driving.
 
Picked up some Craigslist goodies from a hot rodder here in town.

Got to talking Mopars, he said: I have 1 mopar hood scoup.

Finally got around to working on the yard goods rack again today.

A few weeks ago I got the 3-5/8" diameter Delrin rod cut into slugs to make the core plugs for the fiberglass rolls since none are commercially made for my application.

I drilled the Delrin with an 1-3/8" hole, but it expanded out .005", so I bought a 1-25/64" (1.3906") drill bit and went back through them and ended up with a 1.3856" hole.

Plenty good as it gave me .0106" clearance and they roll really well without any noticeable wobble.


The last 3-4 weeks I've been dealing with hauling aging parents all over the place, harvesting, and a million other things that have robbed my project time away.

So. this afternoon I had time to cut the tapers on them with my quick and dirty low dollar fixture made from a 1"-8 thread stud.

Like all well intended projects I have far more time and money invested than I had ever expected, but I am ultra happy with the end results.

I'll have to wait until someone stops by to help me lift the 5ft. long, 120 lb. rolls up on the rack, however I am ready to go now.

Once I get couple rolls hanging I'll post a few finished photos.

The moral of the story is to get things done you have to work on them. Even if you only have a few minutes a day they all add up in time, so stay after it.

I pulled the intake and valve covers and found something interesting. I knew the 906 heads and Torker 383 intake were ported and polished but what I didn’t know was the ports were coated with some kind of epoxy? It’s black or very dark blue. It looks to be painted on with a brush. The ports are very smooth. The intake is totally coated inside. Looks like 10 degree retainers and skinny wire springs I’ve never seen b4. My buddy figures their a Chevy spring. Keep in mind these were done 30 years ago. Kim

Thanks for the insight. Wonder how much of an improvement it makes. Sure couldn't hurt.
I found out who did the heads and he is very innovative guy. Warren Johnson was his idol. He tried to copy every last thing the professor did. He learned a lot from Warren. So maybe it’s an d pro stock trick that Johnson employed. Kim
 
Sounds like a balance between keeping the suspension and keeping the flow.
 
My neighbor came over this evening and helped me lift the fiberglass rolls up on the rack.

It took longer to get it finished than I had planned, but man is it sure going to be worth all the effort and cost.

Because Delrin is self-lubricating the core plugs feel like they are riding on roller bearings spinning on the 4130 tubing.

What a great feeling it is to get a project completed that aids in the progress of another project.

Now, I just need to finish loading some more rolls and get after some mold making.
