I'm a HUGE Rush fan. Their drummer is known as one of the best drummers alive. Here are some videos of him playing. If any of you don't know who he is, his name is Neil Peart. Watch him play. He has one of the biggest drum sets - actually two sets back to back on a rotating platform and he rotates the platform to change from one drum set to the other. He is incredible!

Check out the drum roll just after 2:34 in this video:

Here is another song from that album showing just him drumming:

Here is an early video of one of their instrumental songs with a drum solo in it:

Here is the drum solo from their 30th anniversary tour video. They finally put a camera above him, so you can watch him better:

Here he is on the finale of David Letterman's drum solo week from last summer. Even Dave introduces him as the best drummer:

My younger daughter is a huge fan of drumming, has been since she was 3 years old. She like Neil Peart, Phil Rudd, and -you gotta check out- Cliff Hoad (youtube-Kings of the Sun "Drop the Gun")

Saw them last summer in Vancouver Wa. Absolutely amazing drums!! I have about 7 videos on my cell phone. I had to watch it over and over. Wish that I saw them back in 81 for Moving pictures when they were younger but they still put on on hell of a concert!

Yes HemiTM- YYZ is killer!

I think he's one of the best to ever swing the sticks! Saw them again in Cleveland last year AWESOME!! And they filmed their DVD/CD here.:D:D

"...........and one of the deepest lyricists in rock history.

Much of his stuff inspired by Ayn Rand,,of course.

my Brother and I went to so many Rush concerts I lost count.

Neil, "The machine", is ridiculously coordinated.

YYZ is the airport city designation of Toronto, Canada, their home town.

If you don't have the Rush Chronicles video and you are a Rush fan, I highly suggest you buy it.

I am just kinda sad that Gary Lee's voice is not what it used to be, but their song "Losing it" explains everything......look it up, bad *** tune with Some of Alex's best guitar work.

Shame that they only scratched the surface by only giving air time to only a handful of Rush' material, but they had so much more intense stuff never played, although I never complained when I heard "Subdivisions" come on the radio......crank it up!

Anyone know who Zivojinovich is?

If she liles drumming, get her to watch some old "The Who" with Keith Moon drumming. He was awesome also. He had his own style. The only way to appreciate his drumming is to see it.

Another one to see is Stuart Copeland from the band "Police". He's fast and technical like Neal Peart.

Also Carl Palmer from ELP (Emerson, Lake, & Palmer) and then was in the band Asia was awesome also. I like his work in Asia the best. I saw Asia at the Chicago House of Blues last April. I want to see them again it was so good.

Im not a huge Rush fan but as a bass player I have to give Geddy props, Especially YYZ, Its not easy playing all those 32nd notes with your fingers on the bass.

2112 has to be one of my favorite songs ever...as well as Dreamline.....another sick drummer is Danny Carey of the band Tool. The music may be a little heavier for some, but his skills are definitely comparable to Peart. Don't misunderstand me, Peart is hands down the best...ever....period

Their last tour they played the whole album "Moving Pictures" straight through live from start to finish. I saw it twice. They made a DVD of it called "Time Machine". I took one of my son's 20 y/o friends to the concert, and he was blown away by them. He said it was the best concert that he ever saw and was very impressed with all of them.

They started this playing the whole album from start to finish. Now all the other bands are trying it, however not all of them have albums where you want to hear all of the songs from start to finish, like many of Rush's. I could watch Rush play all of these albums from start to finish:

2112, Moving Pictures, Signals, Grace Under Pressure (the first album where Neil got the electronic drum kit), Power Windows, Hold Your Fire, & Roll the Bones.

I saw in 1978 2112 concert. I think the ticket was $7.00 and a case of beer was $3.75

Besides "working man", the only RUSH song I've been able to figure out how to play is "bastille day". I guess I should be thankful for that, as it's pretty bad ***.

Geddy Lee is an awesome bass guitar player. Whenever they come out with a new album, the guitar mags vote him "Bass player of the year".

It kinda sucks for Alex Lifeson. He is also an awesome lead guitar player, but everyone is so blown away with Neil & Geddy, he does not get the credit that he deserves.

Here is another video of them playing the song called, "La Villa Strangiato". It showcases all of the individual's talents. They also have another song, "Xanadu" where they both play double necked guitars.

Go to agree - saw Tool last week (for first time) and I must say they were incredibly tight live. I've seen Rush at least 6 times and am always amazed by everyone of those guys - 3 virtuosos in one band and I put Tool in the same category.

I've seen them at least a dozen times over the years, including last summer when I worked their show from the front row!!!

Pound for pound, the three most talented musicians that I know of. And they are still playing together after 38 years!!! There's a good doc out on VH1 where Geddy and Alex go back to their old neighborhood. I'll see if I can find the link.

I saw Rush at Darien Lake about 10 years ago and it is definitely my top 3 concerts ever. We had crappy lawn seats but the experience was one I wont soon forget.....the tickets were $45 and beer was $8 for a can at the show....

Seen them twice -Counterparts (nosebleed)and the very first date on the Snakes and arrows tour(7th row).
Super tight, don't underestimate the rest of the band,Lifeson impressed the hell out of me.

Big fan of Danny Carey and TOOL,seen them 6 times so far. Here's a fun small venue show I saw in 94.I'm in the middle of the pit about 10 ft from Maynard the whole show! Awesome show!

I was never a Rush fan. As a musician I loved their music, until Lee opened his mouth, that is. I just can't stand his voice. Musically, I think they really good, though.

I feel the same about Guns and Roses. Great instrumentally, but Axl Rose just screwed the whole thing up as soon as he opened his mouth. I didn't think much of Rose as a human being, either.

Everytime I jam some Rush, it makes me realize how crappy a bass player I really am lol..

Here's an interesting story told by Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson about meeting Robert Plant and Jimmy Page....

Rush is one of my all time favorite bands. Saw them at the Shoreline Amphitheater on the Time Machine tour. There is a lot of talent and skill packed into 3 people.
