young gun 1968 dart

Does anybody have any good dash bezels or anybody knows where they repo them

Repops for all that are about $500. About the same to rechrome them.

IMHO, too much $ for your project. Your goals are going to cost quite a bit.

Mask and paint the chrome with chrome paint. And re-paint the black semi flat.

It will look like this when done.

... The car is getting pp1 red paint with black top and black int. buckets, with a four speed or a auto 360 with a 8 3/4. does anybody have any interest in the rallies or the 270 trim? Thanks ,heres some pics

Have you made a list yet of what all those those will cost parts and labor?

And all/most of the other parts you will need to make those parts fit?

You must do that. It is the road map to your project.

Me and my dad are paying and we saved up alot for this project. I parted out a 1972 duster 340 4 speed car that I got for free and made over $1,000 and then I sold my fourwheeler for $3,200 and many others. My dad and I have done many restos before just not one for me. My dad owns a auto shop so he knows somebody who can primer, final bondo and paint the car for $3,500. and he does great work. we are going to start the body work.(weld panels on and sand and primer. One resto we did was his 1966 dodge coronet with the 426 max wedge in it . We also built his 1970 cuda supergas car together. My dad also has a brand new rotisserie.

There is a ink pad thats supposed to swipe the numbers on the extreme left after 100k but sometimes it drys up or hangs up. good luck with your prioject.

Welcome to FABO
The gas and brake pedals might be a good indication if it as 108,000 miles on the car.
Look to see if they worn on the edges. Obviously they could've been changed....but why would they..
Cool car, looking forward to the progress

heres some more detail pics, looks very rust free under that heavily undercoated dart!

Cole,

I just want to say how inspirational you and your dad are to me. I don't know either one of you, but I envy the time that you guys will get to spend together working on cars and stuff. I didn't get to do that with my dad, and now my sons are grown and all they care about is computer crap and video games. The experience you are getting will benefit you for the rest of your life! Good luck to you and your daddy.

Mark

OK,Today, I got more done then I thought I was going to do.I got the package tray, rear seat belts . The body plugs were a pain for me so my grandpa came out and volunteered to help, and sure ,he pops them all out in less then a minute.(hes a lot older then me,lol)I also went a little farther then I thought I was and I got all the seam sealer off the floors and wheel tubs. The seam sealer was all dry and very hard to get up at first without a torch. I tried something new because I don't have a torch with me and I spray lubed all of the seam sealer to think that it would soften up and come right up. well,I was right, all of it simply came up with my fingers or a screw driver very easy. some of it just fell apart. I scrapped all the seam sealer and body plugs in a bucket. I'm going to see how much that weighs and then I will know how much all of that FACTORY seam sealer weighs. The car is now in the garage waiting for the trim to come off and then get disabled so I cant move it around anymore :banghead: :wack: IM VERY HAPPY THOUGH ,:prayer::cheers:

I will have pics soon, maybe tomorrow after I get home from school. :blob:

Great to see a guy your age jumping in with both feet. Keep after it and it will serve you well in many ways. I also bought my first dodge when I was 13. I learned a lot of automotive fundamentals with that old car that I still use to this day 35 years later. Enjoy.

Awesome car man, it looks great, Take it from someone or a multitude of people in this hobby, this is going to be worth it, if you are still looking for a grille for your Dart message me I have 2 of them from when I converted my 67 to a 68, awesome car dude, Your starting out with a rougher car than i did but i probably have just as many hours into it as you will on yours lol

WELCOME nice to see a young man working on an old car not some tunner. very nice car keep up the good work!
