USPS doing their part to eliminate old Mopar parts

What UPS told us back in the day, minimum 3 inches between the item and the outside of the box.
 
I bought a poly 2-4 intake from the same guy only it was shipped using UPS. It made it with noe problem. Most problems I’ve had with damaged parts has been thru the post office. Especially if it weighs more than 10-15 lbs.
 
I once received a set of pushrods from USPS. The problem was, the box was destroyed and empty! Seller made it right with me and it was insured. 65'
 
I have a set of Hi-Po 340 manifolds on the way. Just got shipped to me today, USPS. Having said that, not the thread you want to read. Fingers crossed.
 
It sucks cause I bought it for a good friend of mine to put on his 66 Dart which has a 2bl on it now. I was trying to do the old fellow a favor. I can say that cause he is 75, I’m just a young lad at 65.
 
In the last 60 days,thanks to UPS and USPS,2 heater boxes,speedo cluster bezel,and guage cluster.All destroyed beyond use and a 1000.00 gone.I'm not holding my breath on collecting insurance from either shipping company.And all were packaged very well.No fault of the sellers.

Actually I’ve had good luck with insurance claims with both of them on claims. Take plenty of good pictures showing they were properly packaged. Stand your ground and don’t take no for a answer. Keep going up the chain of command when talking to them.
 
When I was a LOT younger and before the dubya dubya dubya was much of 'a thing' I've bought and sold a fair number of amateur radio/ test equipment/ etc equipment. it DOES NOT MATTER how well something is packaged, if the gorilla at U-whatever drops the damn thing off the back of a truck to the bottom of a 10' loading dock IT WILL BREAK.

We used to package the 'ell of of something, and then take that tox,.............well padded........and pack it into a bigger box, ALSO well padded. Even then sometimes "stuff" happens. You put "do not drop" etc on stuff and I think this is a challenge for "them."

UNTIL WE THE CUSTOMERS DEMAND that shippers stop throwing and dropping **** IT WILL BE BROKEN

Here's the bottom line, folks. THERE IS NO REASON, EVER, to drop, throw or otherwise launch a package. Motorized equipment should be fenced/ guarded/ etc to prevent falls.

One of the last times I flew somewhere, I witnessed the "crew" loading baggage up a conveyor onto an aircraft. One bag fell off the conveyer from ? 10' up. Someone picked it up, threw it back on, AND IT DROPPED OFF AGAIN!!!

So true. I have worked in the transportation/shipping industry for close to 30 years. I've had items that were addressed to me personally, shipped through my company system that were very well packaged, bubble wrap, styro, you name it that still ended up in pieces.

On the other side of the coin, I regularly see items that are valued in the tens of thousands and more that are barely even shrink wrapped, weighing sometimes 2 to 3 thousand pounds, then shipped on pallets made of toothpicks.
 
I'm ok with USPS.
They used to be really bad until they had competition
I don't think it's totally fair foisting all blame on USPS
As some stated previously, had the seller properly packaged the item there would have been less risk to the item shipped'

We're subsidizing UPS & FEDEX when purchasing from Amazon who gets cheap rates at our expense

Just my 2 cents

When I ship I try to over pack, mark it heavy or fragile (if it makes any difference). I have horror stories from USPS, Fed Ex and UPS. Sent a beautiful dash pad USPS some time
ago. I thought buyer was trying to scam me, package looked like somebody smashed it into a wall. UPS destroyed a heater box shipped to Texas. Shipped a frame rail Fed Ex to Fl.,
it wound up in Phoenix. My ph.# was on the package and a woman called me about. It eventually made it to Fl. about a month later. In most of my shipping with USPS it has been
positive. Their rates are the best unless it is heavy or a large package. Greyhound has never lost anything I shipped, but can take a long time. Haven't shipped anything Greyhound
since Covid -19. Sales on everything have really dropped off.
 
I save the 1" and 2" thick flat styrofoam packing sheets and use that on all 6 sides to completely box in a manifold like that in a flat rate box, wrap the ends of the box in duct tape and send. I sent brake spindles, dust shields and caliper brackets in a med flat rate boxes several times. No issues. Very rarely, like "never" have I shipped anything to anybody and had it show up broken or missing. Even shipped 69 cuda grilles UPS. We all know how fragile those damn things are. I removed the signal lamps and shipped them in a seperate box. Used a double walled corrugated box. Think 1/2" thick then used that 3" wide foam sheet to completely box everything in from all sides. Put $1,000 insurance on em. Arrived perfect shape
 
It was double boxed and had packing in it too. Shouldda made it. Somebody was trying to cause damage because they had to lift something heavy.
 
I do know that Mancini Racing has stopped using USPS because of lost packages and damages since the Covid thing has hit. I know of one other vendor that has done the same thing. So, there is something going on at the postal service right now that is not right.
 
That's unfortunate and I hate the loss, but thanks for posting and everyone else for the heads up on things. It makes me realize just how blessed I have been thus far with shipping. No amount of paper, bubble wrap, whatever is going to protect some things from damage. I've scrapped enough cast iron to know just how hard it is to reduce into smaller pieces. All i can think is someone was being pissy that day and took it on your freight...
 
I have had to change USPS offices...to an area 15 miles out of my way...to a more good ole boy friendly office...since these riots USPS has fell off 500% ....and it shows....WTF!!!!!!
