What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

-

Made a little more progress on my 67 Barracuda's front suspension rebuild. Stuff I removed and either cleaned or replaced looks pretty good, making my wheel wells with their almost sixty years of dirt look kinda bad. If I had known I was gonna go this far, I would at least have pressure washed the wheel wells and sprayed them with undercoating. Too late for that now, but I will pressure wash them after I get the car back together.

Today, I bolted in the lower ball joints and what I call spindles but the shop manual calls steering knuckles. My pile of parts still off the car slowly gets smaller and smaller. I could go faster but at my age I'm only good for a couple of hours a day.

I was able to salvage the oil gauge fitting I broke off when I pulled the motor. Dang it, knew I would forget something!!

I've doubled up gaskets when running 273 rockers on hydraulic lifters. Gutted the baffles. I'm not sure why these valve covers needed so much modification other than they were super cheap from Holley.
I needed more clearance than double gaskets. I also have the rocker geometry correction kit in there which adds some extra height.

A few of us braved the chilly weather to visit a local-ish cider mill (possibly the last outing of the year). After some cider and donuts we drove some scenic back roads for some "smiles per gallon"! All in all a little under 100 miles for the Jaundiced GT today.

Tuning! The car a little lean on light cruise mode. Changed out the metering rods and springs (Edelbrock carb.) to fatten up cruise mode. Succeeded in that. I’m going to drive it for a few more weeks.

lol. I went to take an inaugural drive in my barracuda only to find the brake light switch is bad. brings the total number of things I need to fix the car to horn, brake lights, door locks, brakes (im putting in vacuum assist) and a new rear end.
