Yikes, that's a serious piece! Impressive !!!!!!!!!! and with A?C. Love it.
Well, it's a progressive disease, this "hot rodding" thing I caught in my youth. Besides, it keeps me off the streets, literally; and stops me from wasting money on wine, women and song....for the most part.

Didn't a lot of guys use Best Machine that is/was somewhere in your area? It's been a long time since I've seen any of the folks in your area mention them.
Outta business. I wouldn't have let them work on my lawnmower. I have stories.

Thanks. I haven't been across the border in 20+ years. I don't have an enhanced license or passport, either.

1973 340 in my #’s matching H-code daily driver. When it needs a refresh I plan to do a 3.79" crank and ported Magnum heads with a hyd. roller cam. I'd like to use LA valve covers and appear "stock-ish" to all the Chevy and Ford boys.

they wouldn't know if it had the magnum covers still fitted

I'm over the whole deal. Now, gotta see where this all leads....

I'm not finding any positive feedback from anyone about rebuilding this engine. Finding a trustworthy and knowledgeable builder is a *****, these days. People talk, then become vapor.

It's an orphan, for sure....but that wasn't the issue. It was the actual "build". It's putting me back into the "sell it" mode....

that sucks, hate hearing stuff like this. Valley Machine in michigan has produced some really high HP mopars. i believe Jack Barna is his name

422 stroker. 340 X block. 4.10 bore, 4 inch stroke. CNC ported W5 heads. Holley Pro Dominator tunnel ram with Dominic Thumper massaged Venom VX 850 carbs. MSD 7AL crank trigger ignition, COMP Cams solid roller cam & lifter. Harland Sharp 1.5 rockers. Smith Brothers push rods. 13 to 1 compression. Crank, rod and piston manufacturer unknown right now, but should know soon as engine is currently being disassembled for a refresh. HP and torque unknown but car will be going on a chassis dyno in the spring so I'll have some numbers then.

By the way, I'm going to a single carb setup for this engine. If anyone is interested the tunnel ram, carbs, linkage and 4 port MagnaFuel regulator are available.

Rob Weber is looking to buy a tunnel ram for his W5’s. This is the site and Rob asking me if I know of one for sale.

Since all the small block guys are here... i am trying to decide while waiting on my machinist (only been 5 months so far) is there a good reason to not go 426 (4.180stroke) instead of 4".. staying under 6500rpm.. it's almost the same price..
