[FOR SALE] 1970-71 340 UNSILENCED AIR CLEANER , Custom 408 Tins

Like the title says, it's the hard to find 340 unsilenced air cleaner. Also, I have 2 custom tins that I had made up at a local vinyl wrap place that says 408 Magnum. The air cleaner is driver quality with small dents on the back side. I painted it with VHT wrinkle paint on the outside, and...

Drove a new Ram TRX today !!!

I had the treat of getting behind the wheel of one of these monsters today. I work at a Ford dealership, but our sister store is Jeep/Chrysler. One of the owners bought it as a personal truck. He said to take it for a spin to see what the competition was putting out. I'll say for a big, heavy...

Location for oil holes on rocker arms?

It looks like my PRW rocker arms did not come with the oil holes drilled. I have had them long enough that it is too late to send them back. So, it looks like I get to drill them. I'm not sure what size of hole to drill, nor exactly where to place the holes. I did not notice the lack of holes...

Time to start over and punt on my block?

Due to a series of mistakes on my part, I punched into the water jacket while trying to put a Big-Sert repair into a head bolt hole. I don't know if there is a repair that I trust, but maybe someone here knows of something. The sad thing is it is a fully machined Magnum block with my stroker kit...

    EngineQuest (EQ) heads available again?

It seem that these were discontinued some time ago, but I am finding them again listed by EQ in Las Vegas. They sell them though their eBay store, including the LA intake bolt pattern on a Magnum version. I thought I would include the links to what I found if it will help someone looking for...

Hemi Cuda takes care of Buick GS in modern drag race.

I found this article today. It is not A body related, but good to see the Hemi showing its stuff. The Youtube video linked in the article is annoying to me, so watch at you own inclination. Drag Race: 1970 Hemi 'Cuda Versus 1971 Buick GS 455

Old Hooker header coatings, and options.

I bought a pair of Hooker headers awhile back and they appear to have a coating of some kind. I remember them having some type of coating from the factory maybe in the mid 80's, but can't remember what it was called. It sort of reminds me of galvanized metal more then anything. Anyway, I'm not...

Finely found a converter for my A518 with lock up, thanks FABO

I did not think that finding what I wanted would be this hard, but getting a performance torque for a A518 with the lock up was trickier then I thought it would be. After using the search feature I ended up finding Edge Racing Converters. A lot of places do rebuilt stock units, or something...

    A518/46RH Torque converter recommendations

I'm looking at getting a new torque converter for my A518 with lockup. I would consider having mine rebuilt, but with shipping both ways, new is getting close. I have considered PAC, and PATC, but do not know much about PATC. I am waiting to hear back from PAC on cost, but am open to other vendors.

Jeg's still going down hill, new higher free shipping minimum.

I was doing a little comparison shopping this week, and noticed they Jeg's had raised their free shipping minimum from $99 to $149. Their discount codes have been down for awhile now, from about 10 percent to 6. Also, you have to order higher amount to even get the 6. I have not ordered from...

Any down sides of going Borgeson vs Firm Feel?

I'm going through the steering/front suspension right now on the Challenger. Since I bought the car as a shell, I have no idea what the power steering box condition is, and I don't feel like risking taking it back out after the engine is back in. So, I looked into Firm Feel at a cost of $425...

Amazon shipping will be better they said...

We had a thread a couple of days ago about how messed up USPS is. Well it look like maybe Amazon's shipping department has learned from the pros at the USPS. This is the tracking for a package that is suppose to be here tomorrow. My package was in Oregon less then a hour away, now it shows as...

Cool video about Ed Iskenderian (aka Isky)

I just found this, I guess it was Ed's 99th birthday this week. I'm not sure who did the video, but some really cool stories about him in the early days of hot rodding.

Today's phone call, hydraulic roller lifters info, good service, and glad to have a Mopar

I know it's a strange title, but I had a cool experience today with a parts vendor. Plus, I received some good information that someone might be able to use. As many of you know, getting a good hydraulic lifters is getting harder to do be it flat tappet or roller. I found one of the post here...

The California Car Cover, Covercraft connection?

I ordered a car cover for my Challenger well over a month ago because Hagerty had a 20% discount on them. I knew I was going to have to wait, but was not in a hurry anyway. Today I received my tracking number to find out it is coming from Pauls Valley Oklahoma. A little surprised, I googled...

The wife does not appreciate the new "Jewelry"

Today was like Christmas in June for me. I came home with a big package on the front doorstep. I looked on the shipping label, and sure enough, it was from Trick Flow. Now a lot of people say that their CNC work is like jewelry, which I will say they are very nice. Since my wife was not home...

What makes Mopar owners have such a bond?

I got thinking about this last week when I met another Mopar owner to look at some headers that they had for sale. We just talked about our cars for awhile, and when it came to talk about price on the headers, he said they were going to a good cause and took a decent amount off. I don't think...

70-71 340 unsilenced air cleaner finish question

I'm getting ready to put the the final paint on my air cleaner base, just need to know what is the correct for it. The inside is done in a satin black, and the outside is of course is the wrinkle, but which one of the two is the outer lip. I know it is a small detail, but I am there, so I might...

Stroker specific cams (Part 2) cam reveal

A while back I asked for recommendations for a 408 Magnum based stroker. If you want to read through 8 pages of discussion , I will link that thread below. So, with that said, I decided to do a second reveal thread instead of adding to a rather lengthy one. First I'll recap my requirements/...

Have you ever had a"How did I get here/What am I doing" moment?

I know you have had to of said this to yourself at sometime during a build. I think it is part of the beast when working on older cars. When you have 40 or 50 years of different owners, weather, neglect, strange things happen that you end up uncovering. My moment came a couple of days ago when I...

    Air Cleaner "Art" is done

I posted earlier about wanting to make a custom air cleaner tin for my 408 stroker. The tread here A little air cleaner "art" Anyway, I just got this back from the graphics shop. The only flaw is that he put in white lettering instead of the metal colored like original. That said, it is sort...

You know you have the right wife when....

With this whole lockdown thing going on, I'm glad I have the wife I do. When it first started she told me she was glad I had the car to work on. Maybe because it keeps me out of her hair, but I'll take it. (I shared that on the E body forum) Today I asked if I could use her oven to cure the...

    A little air cleaner "art"

I have been looking for decals or custom tins to put on my 408 stroker air cleaner. I have seen them in the past, but whoever made them can't be found. So, I played around last night with my photoshop program, and used a mix of 383 Magnum tin with one from a 340. It's a first try, but thoughts...

Slow leak down/ Short travel hydraulic (roller) lifters anyone?

I came across these the other day when looking at cams. They seemed like an interesting idea for the right engine build. Just wondering if someone had used them and had feedback. I don't know if I would use them for my Magnum stroker build, but worth taking a look at.

Keep and reinforce original K member, or go QA1?

As the title ask, thoughts on both options are welcome. My K member on my Challenger has some unsightly cobbling done by the previous owner on the engine perches. I don't think it will affect anything though, but pictures below for reference. Anyway, the the thought is to either get the...

Did you ever rock a hiJacker sticker?

As I was tearing the rear differential out of my car recently, I had to take out the air shocks that a former owner had installed. It reminded me of the days when a lot of cars had them for tire clearance, including my old Duster. I then recalled the the sticker you received with the shocks, the...

My answer to Oregon's plastic bag ban.

If you didn't already know it, the state of Oregon has taken it upon itself to ban the plastic bags that you get at the grocery store. If you want a paper bag you get to pay for it. So, you have to provide your own reusable bag if you don't want to buy a bag. While I have mixed feeling about the...
