I'd just buy a $5 plug socket with wrench flats and cut it. I used to have one that I made that also had holes drilled thru the wrench flats to put a rod thru if you couldn't use the flats or ratchet.

Might I suggest if I may that if you have the space to put the air compressor outside in a closet you'll be happy with the lack of noise. Plus it's easier to build a double insulated wall to keep the noise out.
