Basically as the subject says I changed the steering gear and it was good for a few days. I now the steering is very loose like nearly a quarter turn of the steering wheel before the assist kicks in. Supposedly all the settings wereset to factory settings.

Okay so a while ago I pulled my original steering wheel to repair it. I did not mark the center point and now I am having trouble getting it centered again. Any suggestions on how? I do have some play in the shaft between the steering wheel and the power steering box.

How much wheel play is to much? I have about 1-1.5 inches from center in either direction. A couple years ago when I had my alignment done I asked the guy to tighten the steering and it helped but still feels a bit loose.
