In my Demon 340 I'm running 10-30 Valvoline VR-1 Racing oil, now not to start another oil thread I'm being told I should be running 20-50 here in NJ.
Is thicker better? or is the 10-30 fine?

Thanks

not sure why being in NJ. would have anything to do with oil grade used
i would think 10-30 would be fine. maybe 10-40 in the summer and the 10-30 in the winter

I run 20-50 in pa all year no problems thats why its a multi weigh but what you have is fine the 20-50 will boost your pressure a little but it also takes more horses to run.

5w and 10w reach the top end much quicker. I just use 15-40 cuz I've never had trouble.with it. If it'll protect a turbo pushing 30 psi and support torque outputs exceeding 2000 ft/lbs, I think it'll protect my little engine.

Oil is real thick in cold weather. Multi viscosity was introduced to help with that. In places where it's cold as a witch's tit in the winter.....like New Jersey, you need an oil that flows really well in winter. Such as 10w30. 10 weight in the WINTER (w) and 30 weight normally. Sounds like you're about right.

X2 VR1 is also a zinc oil if using the racing version

x2 Run VR-1 20-50 here in Illinois (Though I park the Duster in the garage for the winter months).
