A friend of mine was having his block bored when the machinist called and said they had a problem with the machine and trashed a cylinder. He went on to say he would sleeve the cylinder and there should be no problem. Any thoughts? He was going to do a 408 stroker motor with it.

nothings wrong with sleeving. all aluminum blocks get sleeved. i haven't heard of any cast iron blocks having issues with sleeving.

I ran a 410 last season with a sleeve. It went 8000once but not on purpose. All semi truck engines have sleeves and most get 1,000,000 miles between overhauls. Sounds like an accident happened and your machinist is doing his best to fix it .Give him a chance

As long as it's done right it'll be fine. A buddy of mine runs a Corvette with a 406 that makes about 475 hp and it has 2 sleeves in it and he hasn't had any problems.

As long as its done right there shoild be no problem,my 416 has 2 cylinders sheelved...

As long as the machinist knows what he's doing, there should be no problem. Theoretically, it should be stronger than stock. Oil/coolant leaks are the big problem, but if he has a clue there will be no problem.

Top Fuel engines are all sleeved.

Chevy guys are taking LS2 blocks, boaring them out then puting sleeve's in all the cilenders to get the bore up to the LS7 size. If done right it will be just fine.
