New to w-2... Horsepower / torque ??? Bye bye Hemi. Hello w2-340

Yeah... that one might be iffy for street. Unless you run 5.13s...lol

Go to Cranecams.com and enter that grind number R280/427-8. At .640 lift, I’m sure that will deliver crushingly powerful results. It is on a 108 C-line.

R = Roller cam
280 = duration
427 = love lift
-8 (or just the 8) is the Center line of the cam. As in 108.

As fa as the 292/.509 cam goes, I think many people consider a 3,000 plus rpm cam to much. As I mentioned before, a lot of people ***** about it. The Comp version isn’t really to much different. 4*’s smaller @.050 is probably a half step smaller. Barely noticeable.

I’d say with the stock port Econo W2’s, 430-440 hp. At best IMO.
And a “Opinion” it is, not fact.

So if i say its a 450 hp engine with my comp cam 292/501 with headers and a little holley its raisonnable ? Ahahah
I’d say it is in the realm of possibilities. A Dino test will be great! But I know who has money for these things and we’re just playing around. The tough part is, finding someone who has been there and done that with your combination.

One word of caution, when you assemble them make sure the bottom of the rocker doesn't hit the spring retainer. The grove in the last picture you posted may have to be cut a little deeper for those rockers to clear. Also if they are the long valve heads use big block valve springs and they will fit perfect. You'll also have to cut your pushrods to the correct length so you may need some extras. Assembling them takes some time and can be a pain in the *** but well worth it.

I just noticed the rocker shafts don't have banana groves. You might want to make sure it oils the push rod tips when you prime it. I had to cut some in my shafts because I cooked the end of the pushrods.

Spend the extra money to get a smaller roller cam and dont look back... these guys can advise you on profile.
Really....

@rumblefish360. , So if i understand correctly , these heads are the best thing for a la engine ?
I never said that and that would be an opinion and point of view.

That said, what your doing, how your going about it and what kind of power you want is heavily based on the cylinder head to be used. MoPar came out with the W2 in the mid-ish 70’s where as later they came out with the W5’s.

Both heads representing replacement style upgraded high performance or racing heads. Then there are the race W-7-8-9.

Of all these heads, which on is best. Before you answer, I have seen W8 & W9 heads on the street. The owners were extremely happy.
Street ability is dependent on driver.
A heads racing ability is limited by flow and drivers happiness with the head.

And they keep the engine pulling were the others would fall at high rpm
What other heads is this compared with?
The heads ability to allow the engine to rev high is more in the valve spring selection. Followed by an excellent set of ports.

A dead stock W2 will out flow and out power any dead stock LA head, period. Now substitute the words dead stock with;
Prepped
Bowl ported
Full ported
All out race modified

Adding long valves to the W2 head allows more lift and better spring selection for bigger and better more powerful cams.
